In the video, it said they each have control of one side of the upper body, each with their own heart, lungs, and arm. It wasn't clear about the lower body, though, which looked too in sync to have separate brains controlling the legs. I wonder how that works.

I think lower was the same way. Oddly enough, I was reading somewhere and it said that the girls type at a normal speed, learned to ride a bike, walk, swim, etc. at a normal age despite this disadvantage.

I'd assume it would be pretty automatic. When I'm walking I just go, I don't have to think about putting one foot before the other. Maybe either twin can stop or speed up the pace consciously, but when walking both twins probably have the same semi-subconscious signals going to the legs.
