This guy is just an arrogant prick who thought he could take without paying back and is now hiding behind the skirts of "economic crisis".
Between people like this and 80% of the occupy idiots, no wonder the important messages keep getting lost.
He shouldn't have been lent the money in the first place.

It is most probable he didn't ask for it to be produced in a forum where they would be compelled to do so. How likely would it be the one fruit loop in the world would be the same one where they lost a document?
Banks have warehouses full of documents, carefully organized so they can eventually find something specific if called upon, and more lately, they scan them into a digital, searchable format so they're available at the branch level without a paid person having to do a physical search in a warehouse.

If he had just filed for bankruptcy, he would have been fine. But he didn't do that.
Because he is going through all of this, he is actually punishing himself even more. He will have to declare bankruptcy after this is done. But he will now have difficulty finding a job. A quick search will pull this up and show him as crazy. Given that he is a politician, I really hope he never gets elected again.

Even if they had transfered the documents to the bank of Canada, I'm pretty sure that they would keep photocopies of the document.
I'm also pretty sure that the Judge would have accepted any debt statement and transaction law as proof of debt.

guess he should have spent the last two years working at a j-o-b rather than this cockamamie idea.
who in their right mind believes they can get the bank to forgive money owed by giving them a piece of paper.

While from the USA, it could be he saw this and figured it would work in Canada with both his loans and mortgage.
May not keep him from losing his house, but could delay things for a while.
