1. Conan - without question the best monologue, though the rest of the show has become stale I think (No seriously folks we have a really great show tonight)
2. Letterman - was hilarious during the 90's now I find him becoming much more hit and miss.
3. Leno - His monologues appeal to the same people who think Ebaumsworld is the height of hilarity. This is a man still making Monica Lewinsky jokes.

Haven't paid attention to the other ones.

This would have been a fun poll to have. Seems like Conan's the favorite and it's obvious why. Interesting how well he's done when the monologue used to be a dialogue with his sidekick Andy Richter for so many years. I miss that camraderie. Now all he has is Max.

Here's my list sans explanations.

1. Conan
2. Stewart
3. Leno
4. Ferguson
5. Letterman

I used to like Craig Kilborn aswell, not sure why he quit. Conan is gut busting hilarious but too energetic for a time when I'm trying to fall asleep, not bust my gut open with laughter. As said above, go away Leno and get Conan into your time slot.
I'm pretty much the same. Kilborn had me laughing like a hyena, and Conan is hilarious too. Both Leno & Letterman are too repetitive for me. Leno never stops with the Jacko jokes, and was just as bad in the Lewinsky era. Letterman just never got me going, so I guess I can't comment to much on him.

Conan is head and shoulders above everyone else right now. But man, was I p*ssed when they took him off Access. I sent them an angry email over that.

Letterman is my second-favorite, but most of that is for nostalgia. Back in the mid-nineties, that show was so brilliant; I tuned in every night because it always felt like something unmissable was going to happen. But it is way more conservative (not in a political, or social sense, just in a comical sense). It is not out on the cutting edge the way that Conan or Stewart are.

Stewart is hit-and-miss. I like watching his show in daytime reruns, but his interviews are often too cerebral for late-night.

Ferguson has been pretty good, for the half-dozen episodes I have seen.

Leno is so incredibly unfunny, in my view. I have never understood why he does so well in the ratings.

1. Conan - He is so freaking quick and funny.
2. Kimmel - someone that is not 50+ years old - very refreshing, he could do without all the family there.
3. Letteman - still funny, but getting to old to represent the new generation, paul and his music lick! Where did all the skits go?
4. Leno - never a leno fan, but he at least does some funny skits
5. Fergeson - Not bad, but his guest usually suck, so I don't watch.

Heh, I did too, but never got a response. Technically I can watch him on digital cable at 10:30 but never seem to get around to it.

Conan, by far #1.

Leno dead last - I hate how he'll flog a joke about a person over and over. You can only take so many Michael Jackson jokes. He just comes across as a shallow and "catty" guy.

Letterman seems to think that strange noises and body motions make for great humour. That and he's just too damn ugly to look at. He used to be my hero in the late night slot but once he went to CBS...flush..... I hope the same thing doesn't happen to conan when he moves to the Tonight Show.

I don't even bother watching the rest. C List guests at 2:30 in the morning don't hold a lot of appeal for me.

1. Letterman-King of the inside joke. He's doing stuff referencing things from 20 years ago that long time viewers still remember. He's the best interviewer of the 5 by far, assuming a comedy format.

2. Conan-great original stuff. Great abiltiy to make fun of himself.

3. Leno-I don't find him funny at all. Sometimes his retorts to the newspaper clipping thingies they do (which are funny) remind me of my 10 year old making up a joke and thinking it's funny.

Ferguson...haven't watched him enough to judge.

Kimmel...I think Jimmy Kimmel is hilarious, but I've honestly never watched his late night show. I think it's safe to assume he'd be ahead of Leno though.
