As a staff consultant (not independent contractor), the company may charge clients upwards of $200 - $250 per hour for your service, but of course, you will be paid peanuts (lucky to pocket $40).
It's pointless to even ask this question without the context of the business. I know that our company expects a 12% ROS. At my company we have enormous corporate overheads and so the average producing employee needs to produce more to compensate for those overheads. I've also worked at an 18 person firm, and the overheads there were ridiculously low comparatively.
What is your company's expectation on ROS? Take that and reverse engineer your numbers.
