Oh yeah. They really hide it in that price per unit sticker, too.

I take the Ctrain every day so I'm going to have to highly disagree.

I'm not sure where the legality of it falls, but I know when I worked in retail at a place that sold beds we always had one at 50% off. We would rotate through 4 models so there was always one at 50% off. However we were told that we were never allowed to discount one of the beds that was normally 50% off when it went back up to regular price.
It is against the law to temporarily raise your prices just so that you can advertise them at 50% off shortly after, I know that much.

What you're describing seems to be a good way to get around that.

Unfortunately I'm the sucker that these stores are looking for. I would buy the 24 of coke for 9.99 and not even bother to look at the other prices. I will start to be more observant when I am shopping.

My wife always comments that its always cheaper when I do the grocery shopping. I do compare prices (and accomplish it in a quarter of the amount of time that it takes her).

Some prices I just know off the top of my head as well as which stores in our neighborhood have certain items at the best prices.

For instance, I will not buy Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee (spelling?) unless it is a buck or less (the kids like it). Same with Kraft Dinner (you can do much better during case lot sales).

Superstore does price matching, so often a larger box of cereal or cookies is cheaper than a smaller box of the exact same thing, you just have to look. Why is it only junk food goes on sale mostly?

You're preaching to the choir, man. My gf isn't on board yet though. I even bought her a filtered water bottle. D'oh.
