I was thinking of taking one of those RC helicopters with a little WiFi camera and launching it from the car in traffic jams.

Then I could try to convince car manufactures to include it as a feature and reap in the royalties.

The patent office will be obsolete in a few years? The world is moving toward an IP dominated economy and the IP office will definitely not be obsolete.

You're right when you say everything has been invented. That doesn't mean you can't patent it. As long as your design is 10% different, then you can patent it.

That's why patenting things can get pricey. I'm working on something right now and we're planning on patenting multiple versions, like dozens, so that our competition won't be able to compete with us.
