By the title of your post, are you saying that a only a woman would have done such thing, and no man would have backed up without looking?

Ah yes, I think it always helps to intensify situations like this with a string of profanity and name calling. Puts it into perspective.

Yes he is, and there's a good reason why.
It's a fact. It's science man, it's been proven. I saw a show on PBS about it.

Things didn't have to "escalate" for the cops to be called. You have to call the cops for any accident with over $1000 in damages.

Actually I think you only call them on the phone if there's an injury involved or are impeding traffic. If it's over $1000 (or some amount around that) you both have to go to a cop shop and file an accident report.

Being a car guy, I can understanding you freaking out just driving home in your new ride. However, I've learned never to even discuss who's at fault, let along freak out at someone at a scene of the accident. Save that for later.

If people try and drive away without exchanging information, I just tell them I'm going to report them as a hit and run, with their license plate. That gets their attention usually.

Failing logic and reason with your neighbor, there's always feces. You can always count on feces.

Yep. Just because you got screwed is no reason to devolve into an arsshole.

Now if it was your fault, I could understand the swearing, because you'd be screwed. It sounds like it's her fault, so you're probably covered. It's her that's screwed, and it should be her husband yelling at her for messing up their insurance.

You yelling at her was a brutal move. Obviously chalk it up to charged emotions, and realize that you're an out of control individual when these things happen.

As for the woman comment, that's just plain ignorant. As if a man has 0% chance of hitting you in the exact same fashion... what rubbish. You can tell 'that show you saw on PBS' the same.

Now old people, THERE's a statistically proven bad driver for you.

If you don't get angry at that you should sue your pediatrician because they must have removed both testicles, spine, brain, eyes and ears along with the foreskin at birth.

why should people not be angry aboot their personal safety?

people have crossed me on the road before and i always chased them down, and let them know how i felt.

negligence in the scale of two tons of metal and glass is pretty damn close to attempted murder.

if peoples' feelings get hurt, that is too damn bad.

Negligence in a car is attempted murder.

So when you find someone committing this action against you, you pull behind them and hound them? Have you actually changed bad drivers into good this way? Or do you do this to make yourself feel better? I can't believe you'd let someone who cut you off affect you so deeply that you'd feel the need to 'let them know how you feel'.

There are good drivers and bad, if you think most people aren't up to snuff, blame driver's ed/license regulation. Being p*ssed won't change someone into a better driver.

I don't think I've ever used my horn in anger, irritation, or to 'let someone know' how I feel. I drive in the same traffic you do (if you're in Calgary). That's not 'defensive driving', that's 'offensive driving'.

I sure hope I never 'cross' you on the road.

Why does it seem like so many people here have a problem with honesty? If someone hit your car, new or not, your going to get mad. Your just supposed to take that? Forget that. Be honest with that idiot and let them know how you feel. If you don't like being yelled at, don't back into my freaking car. Watch where you are going and we'll get along just fine. Why is it we aren't supposed to convey negative feelings? If someone is being stupid and it negatively affects your life you should tell them exactly how you feel and why they were being dumb. Otherwise, if no one tells them they are idiots, how are they ever going to know? And how are they ever going to get better?

I dunno, the dude said he was calm at first but they started on about how it wasn;t there fault and refusing to show insurance.

If someone hits you, and they're in the wrong, you're fine. If they refuse to give you info, get their license plate. Since the people own a home 10 houses away, it's not like they're going to 'get away'.

You think keeping control of your emtions = lacking testicles? I guess whatever makes you think like a big man... I'd have thought keeping your cool would reflect better on yourself, but to each their own.

I got hit in my high school parking lot on the day of Grad. The other guy was totally speeding, but since he was coming from my right when he nailed me, technically I was in the wrong (no speed limit posted in pk lot).

I was screwed, bad, and my car was totaled. I used my phone to call my date and tell her she'd have to drive us to grad.

I don't think you 'have' to get angry when you get hit, or when you hit someone.

Right... losing control is a great way to teach someone a lesson. They'll learn a lot... about you.

I have no idea why you think it's 'natural' for you to fly off the handle in any situation.

Sheesh, some of you guys might be mixing up your 'car' with your 'kid'.

Bullcrap. If someone in essence says right to your face, I am going to put you out $10,000, and there is nothing you can do about it, you will get angry.
I guess... you'd (apparently) have to be a fotze-sized idiot to think that the person living down the street could blatantly hit you, and there's 'nothing you can do about it'. You know they're license and address. From the sounds of it, the accident should be pretty obvious for the authorities to figure out. They'd also charge the people if they lied about the accident.

Quote:
People not owning up to what they have caused drives me nuts. Take responsibility for your actions.
How about YOU take responsibility for YOUR actions and damn the others. Losing control and yelling at the woman is not holding her responsible, it's being an ass. I'd be pretty surprised if above-victim was cool as a cucumber, and hubby came running out yelling at him first... doesn't sound like it went down like that (nor would I believe that).

Quote:
If someone that blatantly does it right in your face and you may be the one to pick up the pieces, you smke too much weed. Not a person I know would take that without some emotion welling up.
Ah... so, where you're from, if someone 'fronts' at you, you take them apart? Where do you live? Beyond Thunderdome?

Quote:
Have you ever been in an accident?
Well, I did say I was, in this thread.

Quote:
Getting hit by someone sucks shinguard and if it is blantant, anything less than apologies is uncalled for.
The only thing called for, in this case, is an insurance settlement. If they don't want to say sorry, they don't have to. And you don't have to like it. That's the way it is. I suppose a temper-tantrum might be in order, if you're 12, but not if you're a grown man.

Of course, you and I may have differing versions of what a man is.

Judging by some of the posts it's almost as if people just havn't exploded before.

Sure, you can be calm, shinguard happens, you can deal with it, but your emotions just keep building a building until some moron comes in and rubs you the wrong way (or smashes up your new car) and you just explode. It's a fact of life, everyone's done it, everyone will do it again, it's so easy to be on the sidelines and say that's not a smart move but when you're put in the situation, it's a completly different story.
