Probably the most fun I've had watching a Heat game to date. Every player was finishing their checks. The Armstrong-Bouma-Bancks line was extremely hard for the other team to play against. If you could see the puck possession time the Heat would have taken it by a massive margin.
Breen and Howse were out of the lineup. I wonder if maybe they were involved in a trade with all the scouts there tonight. I hope not, but food for thought .
Martin fit in and actually excelled at this level of tempo tonight. He even got into a fight. His eye was pretty messed up after, but he came back.
Sylvester started the game, but I didn't see him back out there at all. He wasn't even on the bench during the shootout, which is odd. You'd think he'd be one of the main guys called upon for the shootout.
Nemisz, Brodie, and Henry logged a TON of minutes tonight. Brodie played very well both defensively and offensively. Nemisz never ceases to amaze me. He's a magician with the puck. His shootout goal tonight is evident of that if any of you see it. Laing was definitely a leader out there tonight. He was blocking numerous shots and hit anything that moved. Irving handled the puck exceptionally well tonight. I must say, his puck handling skills are far better than Kipper's or CT's.
The down side: Wilson hasn't really impressed me at all in the couple games I've watched him. He's a bit of a wuss TBQH. He'll lay on the ice for a few seconds to see if the ref will make a call, he embellishes things a bit too much, and he's pillowy soft along the boards. I don't know, maybe he's a prototypical offensive defenceman, but I'm not impressed by him. I say trade him to the Canucks where he'll fit in perfectly .
Anyways, awesome game from everyone on the team tonight. Hopefully they can duplicate that intensity tomorrow.
My 3 stars for the Heat:
1. Brodie
2. Nemisz
3. Henry

On Howse - Was he a healthy scratch? I've always wondered if he could make a smooth transition to the "big boy's league" with a somewhat small (maybe rotund is a better description of him...he's not exactly light, but he's somewhat short) frame and pretty soft 5v5 defence.

Yeah, he is a healthy scratch. Same with Breen as far as I know.
BTW, everyone should check out the Heat Hub. I know a lot people on CP get frustrated because they don't know how to get much information on the Heat from afar, so this is one of the best sites. It's mostly entries from Ryan Pinder, but he keeps us informed.

I thought Bouma was on a different line.....wasn't he with Laing? Or maybe there was a change tonight?
Guys, Byron didn't hit the guy from behind. He lost his footing after he scored the goal and went head first into the boards. Scary play no doubt, but Byron didn't hit him from behind.
As for the scouts in attendance, I see Florida, Detroit, Nashville, Philly, and Dallas scouts. Many more than that though, just can't see them.
Really? Really??? Cause this clip shows otherwise.
Did you see that replay before? I have to think you didn't. It's very damn clear from that replay that Byron really gave the guy a healthy, and quite frankly, dirty shove from behind into the boards. That was nasty.
I would've been more inclined to believe you if I hadn't seen that clip, but the evidence there is very damning on Byron.
Disgusting, dangerous shove from behind by Byron. Stuff like that makes me sick. Byron in the doghouse big time.
Agreed. Completely uncalled for. It was just a little shove and I don't think Byron was looking to hurt him. But still not excusable. He deserves a suspension.
From my vantage point in the stands it looks like he only skated behind him and the guy lost his footing. They refused to show the replay in the arena and everyone booed when they didn't.
The got up and seemed completely fine after, so thankfully that's the case. Could've been much worse.
