Decembeard ftw. I started mine last month, it should be somewhere between George Clooney and homeless bottle guy by New Years.

I googled "decembeard" but couldn't find out the fundraising or charities involved (other than some hospitals in Australia).
Anyone care to share details, or is this just some fun trend

Third year for me. No cheating this year so it won't be as epic as it was before.
I just need to get my website going and I can start collecting donations. Should be a fun month.

I'm pretty sure the rules state no beards and no pre 11/01 stubble. Beards are much more acceptable in society, so the stache is the sacrifice we make for awareness.

I will be in too. All the guys at work are chipping in some money - half is donated, the other half is prize money - and the women in the office get to vote, but only if they donate.

I'm in for Movember for sure.
Decembeard though.. Whenever I try to grow a beard, once the hairs get about 0.5cm long, past the stubble stage, it's just unbearably itchy and I shave it off. How do you cope?

ALL ABOARD!

Also, if you're participating, make sure you actually sign up and get donations. Grow a moustache because it's funny without getting people to donate defeats the purpose.
That being said, I signed up and I cheated. I had a few days growth already and just shaved a moustache this morning. For me, it's not how much I can grow in a month (which I know isn't much) but how disgusted my wife will be by the end of the month with the patchy porn stache I'm able to grow..

I've had a beard for the last few months, so I shaved it yesterday to try out some mustache styles, and settled on the ol' Box Car (or if I'm lucky, the Undercover Brother)

Don't worry, I shaved clean this morning!

I've managed to get 32 people from my company on board so far, and as of Nov 1, have raised $1400 in donations.
I think this is a great opportunity to build community within an office, and support a great cause at the same time. At our Movember kickoff party we had "Pin the mustache on the CEO" (approved by the CEO of course), which was a lot of fun. I think within a few years Movember will be as successful as the United Way campaigns in this city...

I'm kind of cheating.
I still have my Movember 2010 moustache, so I'll be keeping it going.
I've currently got Style #1 according to this chart:

I don't want to be a total Debbie downer but are every single one of you participants in this raising money?
I'm not a fan of slacktivism and I had to decline a coworker to take part in movember because I just can take part in this, as I suspect an alarming number of other are doing, just for the fun of it.
Please if you are participating in movember don't be a slacker, raise some friggin cash for a good cause. Otherwise you're no better than those useless FB underwear color bs campaigns.

^ Screw off ...
I raised over $2500 for cancer research on the Ride to Conquer Cancer and will do so again next year. If I want to grow just for awareness and not hit everybody I know up again, I will...

Won't bother going into full-on rant but yours is a dumb post I'm afraid.

This is my first year doing Movember. I shaved on the evening of the 31st. And am collecting donations.
I frown upon the people that do it just for fun, or didn't shave within a few days of the 1st. But, that being said, each stache will raise awareness, even it the grower does not.
You can join my team here https://www.movember.com/ca/register...team_id/238202
