I think they checked the ball and didn't see any shoe marks.

Rangers need to re-paint their shoes before the game

Haha, possibly, but I didn't think they checked the ball. I thought the announcers were surprised they didn't, mind you I drinking and already agitated about the call so I very well could be mistaken about that (after years of CBC Hockey Night in Canada I only half listen to the pbp guys anyway).

Not much else to say about the Cards performance tonight.

I'm shaking,

I thought the Cards pitching was fantastic, I thought it was over going into the 9th.

Neither team did much in terms of hitting.

Once again I thought the balls and strikes were inconsistent (for both teams) sometimes you'd get the low strike, sometimes you didn't. Sometimes you be given a corner, next time you wouldn't get it.

Not much could have been done on the Kinsler steal, he just got a great jump. The misplay by Pujols, which I doubt happens very often, ended up being a minor blip that cost them.

However, I didn't have much faith that both Hamilton and Young would go deep back to back. By deep I mean a fly-ball to the outfield that would allow the guy on 3rd to score.

You're probably feeling tonight, what I was feeling last night.

Whatever happens, if every game is like the last two we're either going to suffer heart attacks or be hospitalized with alcohol poisoning... I'm just realizing either way we'll end up in the hospital, how about the fan of the winning team gets the fan of the losing team's jello

out of curiosity, why is this the Arthur Rhodes Memorial World Series thread?

I understand the Arthur Rhodes part, he gets a ring either way (just like Bengie Molina last year) however at last check he isn't dead (although moon may have killed him after the game for giving up the sac fly that scored Kinsler).

He's baseball dead or back from the dead. He gets a ring either way and he'll almost certainly retire.

/and I was trying to be cute

Ahhh fair enough, and the back from the dead analogy definitely works, just like Dr. Marvin Munroe

all it took was a blown call to get all these bats going!

It's amazing what one blown call can do. What should have been a double play was enough to allow for a rally. Napoli to over think the throw home, which allowed another two runs to score. Then everyone else is tenser playing defence because of the mistakes of others. Pitchers are gripping the ball more than usual. One thing leads to another.

At the end of the day, I can't blame everything on the one blown call. That's ridiculous.

The Rangers bats have been swinging as well. Just St. Louis' have been swinging better.

I just wish I could experiance my team winning it all. At least once. I could deal with losing to the Giants last year as I know their fans (like me) haven't seen them win before. What's frustrating this year is that the Cards won in 1996, their fans have seen them win. It sucks, you know?

Well, this game still isn't over, nor is the series.

Go Rangers

I think Pujols read the article slamming him for not talking to reporters after the loss in game 2. Hope he ignores them again after this one.

Looks like the series is even. Carpenter vs. Wilson again tomorrow. Should be a classic.

I think you meant 2006 and that doesn't make these two losses so far an easier.

It is frustrating to see stupid errors/decisions causing the team to lose. Holland pitched great tonight and it might not have mattered but Boggs should have been ready and likely shouldn't have been the guy to come in.

Oh well 2-2 with home advantage still and Carpenter going tomorrow.

A little OT but what the heck is on Hollands top lip?

Oh man, I totally understand frustrating. The Cards wins were like that for me.

To answer your question, you're referring to the Dutch-stache! The greatest thing in baseball.

Seriously, during an interview on the ESPN Ben & Skin show he made an agreement with the hosts that he wouldn't shave his moustache until the Cowboys lost a game. Coincidentally, Mike Maddux got him to tweek his delivery, and then he went on a tear (9-1 I think to finish the season, including 4 shutouts).

He hasn't shaved his moustache since, and it's taken on a life of its own. Fans are showing up to the ballpark with horrible fake moustaches, and the Dutch-stache (of note Derek Holland's nicname is Dutch, his twitter is @Dutch_Oven45) has its own twitter account @dutchstache

I guess it's similar to when the Flames all grew moustaches, only in this case it's just the 25 year old left-handed pitcher with an unhealthy obsession with Chuck Norris growing one.

Also of note this was the first time I've heard him interviewed (which surprises me) and sweet mother Mary does he ever have a thick accent!

Does Beltre think he can win the series in one swing?

LOL at his last at bat at falling to his knees while way over swinging.

F'ing Holliday

Wilson is doing his best to walk home a run and you weakly ground out.

Outside of game 3 the Cards have been very frustrating to watch.
