I upgraded to iOS5 last week and was trying to figure out the Find My iPhone app.

From what I was able to find, it seems like you can only run it from another iOS device. Is this true? I have Windows computers at work and home and don't own an iPad, so if I lost my iPhone, the only way I'd be able to find it is with the Find My iPhone app on my iPhone...That doesn't seem like a useful product.

If I look on Apple's site regarding setting it up, it goes to instructions on setting up iCloud, but there's nothing in there related to finding the phone.

There has to be some way to run it from a Windows PC, right? Right?

Well, there you go. Thanks. I'm not sure why Apple doesn't make that information a little easier to find on their site.

Just tried it out, and it works perfectly. If you get it play a sound, it will even do so if you have the phone ringer turned off, which is good.

I'm sure you all already knew that, but I was curious.

Apple is doing a much better job of making people aware of it than they used to. It's now part of the setup screen when you upgrade to iOS 5 or start up a new device. Your right, they should mention the site a little more prominently.

Very happy to hear the lost iPhone has been located. Very lucky... upgrade your phone or get that damn app!

Thanks for the tutorial.
