Do you have a smartphone? Aren't there apps that block things for you? I'll do a quick Google to check.

Edit: I just checked the app Market on my Android. There's an app called Mr. Number that lets you block calls and sms individually or by region. http://mrnumber.com. Also available for iPhone and BB apparently. But if you don't have a smartphone, well...now's as good a time as any to get one heh.

I'm with FIDO. I know with my Fido App I can block up to 10 numbers so I don't get text messages. Check that out with your provider.

I dunno if there is a reason why this hasn't been suggested... but since its a work phone, just disable text messages and use only the phone line?

I just didn't want to get into details because of the stigma attached to it.

It was World of Warcraft. I'm glad to be done with it now, after 4+ years of playing. It's stupid how bad that game can consume your life. But I suppose I only have myself to blame. Which is why I made the choice to leave. Uninstall. Delete. It's all gone.

Couldn't be happier.

Are there no apps that can block a number? I remembered seeing a rom on my phone where you had a block list. Never tried it so don't know if it works...

It's an HTC Desire HD Android phone. I'm sure there might be an app. I'll have to look.

As for it being a work phone...yah...MY WORK. My business. The more I think of it, the more likely I'm probably going to go with a number change.

Yeah I have the same phone. Looks like Mr. Number is the most popular one. Sounds pretty solid.

Tell them for every text they send, CP jihadists will send 100 texts back.

I highly doubt even the most effective CPJihad would come anywhere close to what a group of WoW nerds would muster.

Beak the flying fudge out of them for having such an uneventful and pathetic life that the best way to spend their time is to repeatedly text a random stranger in Canada.

Then phone them using a public phone and be absolutely cruel with your words so that if they're not crying by the time you're done with them you know next time you just got to be harsher.

By far the easiest way to have this stop is just keep ignoring them. They will get bored, and it will stop.

step 1: send texts to these guys saying "thanks alot guys, you've made me change numbers, hope you're happy, goodbye forever"

step 2: ignore all texts from them for a week or so

step 3: if they're still texting after a week, start by saying "Hi, I think you have the wrong number, i just got this phone"

I would think that most text messaging plans don't have texting to Canada (from the US) included. Maybe they'll stop once they realize they've spent $.25 per text.

There might be a bit of over-lap there.

On my Android I can select the sender and then hit the "blacklist" button. This stops any messages coming from that number. Not even a separate app, not sure if you have this option.

Are any of them using a cell phone provided by their employer? If so, I would contact their employer and let them know that someone is harassing you on behalf of them. The employer will probably put a stop to those ones at least.
