This show sucked after 1998. Amazing up to then, but I wouldn't be sad about this horse getting put down. I'll remember the old ones fondly and occasionally watch them.

Agreed. It's not gold like it used to be, but it's still very watchable. I had a good laugh from the Teddy Roosevelt episode this last week. Better than both Family Guy and the Cleveland show (though I think American Dad was the best of the 4 in my opinion this week).

I've read that they won't be actually taking a pay cut. They want to sacrifice some of their salaries for a cut of the syndication loot. Which is huge. Larry David has made something like half a billion dollars of Seinfeld syndication/dvd sales.

I loved King of the Hill, one of my favourite shows ever. It ended two years ago after 13 long years on the air. it staved off cancellation a couple times towards the end. The ending with Bobby and Hank finding common ground between the two of them in grilling was great.

Recently I found out they had four more episodes that hadn't aired yet for the final season, still have to watch them! I keep putting it off... always nice to have more episodes of your fav show sitting on the shelf. It wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but at it's best it was a brilliant little show. The dynamic between Hank and Bobby was one of the better father-son dynamics on TV.

While the Simpons was one of the best shows ever in it's peek, it fell off big time about ten years ago (or more). King of the Hill had it's peeks (seasons 4, 5, 6) it never had the badness the Simpsons has had in recent years. When it ended it was the 2nd longest running animated series ever, behind the Simpsons, but has now been passed by South Park.

And oh, American Dad is great. So much better then Family Guy, and of course the Cleveland show.

The Teddy show was a good one. It reminded me of the one where maggie sums up the super human strength to save homer from drowning.

I hated family guy this week, it was terrible.

Since I only very rarely watched The Simpsons, I guess I wouldn't miss them.

The upside is I've got a lifetime of re-runs to catch up on.

Googling Simpson quotes is always fun, even if you never watch the show.

My favourite character would be Robert Underdunk Terwilliger, aka Sideshow Bob, brilliantly voiced by Kelsey Grammar and basically a cartoon re-draw of Frasier Crane.

From the link above. 30% pay cut plus a slice of the long term is a lot different than a 30% paycut.

I rarely watch the new episodes now, but maybe FOX could use some of the billions of dollars they made from "The Simpsons" to pay the people on "The Simpsons"

Still a funny show.
Who would have thought a person could make 8 million/yr as the voice of a cartoon character! Mel Blanc would own the world by now.

I hope this show doesn't get cancelled. I know some people say it's past it's prime and all, but don't watch it if you don't like it anymore. Some of us still find it enjoyable to watch. I grew up with this show and it will be a sad day when it gets cancelled.

I never watch the Simpsons anymore, but there's some comfort in knowing it's always there. For that reason I want it to keep going.

If it was cancelled the only positive would be that Fox could actually release the complete series in a box set.

That would make me happy.

Oh gosh, how hurtful.

Frankly the Simpson's isn't funny any more, and its mainly due to the shift in the characters with Bart being the only one thats retained his consistancy over the year.

They took Homer from being a slightly stupid good hearted man who would find a way to win in the end or do the right thing in the end to a lout.

Marge has pretty much become the stereotype of the 50's house wife, its almost like she's a battered house wife because she just gives in now, she really used to be the strength behind that family.

Lisa is just annoying now, she's become the Brian Griffin of the Simpson's, where when they do a Lisa episode I pretty much turn the channel because she's annoying.

Bart may be consistant, but his jokes and resolutions are exactly the same in every episode, you used to have flashes of out right brilliance with him, for example the dream episode where he grew up to be the Presidents brother.

But you rarely see anything that makes him the least bit redeemable.

The other characters used to be fairly fleshed out, but they are now merely carboard cut outs that utter lines that allow the Simpsons to hit home runs at their expense.

I miss the snarly comic book gut with the "Hey I'm watching you" when an expisoded became repetitive.

I miss the real fat tony from the episode where Bart becomes a made man, instead we got that crappy Jersey Shore episode, and then the lame Fat Tony is not fat tony he's his brother fit tony.

After nearly 2 decades on the air, its pretty clear that the Simpsons has run out of ideas and edge. Its time to do the dignafied thing, take it out back and put a bullet in its head and roll out the inevitable Millhouse spin off.

wouldn't that box set cost several thousand dollars and be sooo heavy that it would form a quantum singularity on your book shelf?

Tell me you've seen the episode entitled "Two Brothers From Another Series"
where Sideshow Bob's brother Cecil shows up (for picture see poster Cecil Terwilliger's avatar), voiced perfectly by David Hyde Pierce.

One of my favourite jokes of the entire Simspon's series is in that episode

Spoiler!

Additionally I've got the first 12 seasons on DVD, if you want them all you have to be patient and pick them up on sale every once in a while.

That was a great episode.

But the best side show bob episode involved the rakes.

The Terror Lake episode? Yup, probably my favorite of the entire series (or certainly top 5): the rake gag, the HMS pinafore sequence, the elephants, homer's difficulty with learning his new identity, all the references to various thriller films.

This show should have been cancelled 15 years ago. It hit it's peak at "Who Shot Mr. Burns".

There are some many, many amazing shows Fox should not have cancelled but they kept this piece of crap.
