Found it. This sign has been there as long as I can remember, and its the only place in the city I've seen one like it.

We have a section of 9th avenue here in Sunnyside that isn't paved for about 1 block, very strange.

I also grew up in Dalhousie and I never heard that.

The only rumor of the area I remember was that somebody had been murdered in that root cellar that was down by the corner of Crowchild and 53 Str. before the overpass went in.

It's not a gravel road per se, but there is an alley, that looks like any other alley, off of Centre Street North that has a huge sign that says something to the effect of "this alley can become dangerously unstable in thaw conditions" or some such dire warning.

I've often wondered what exactly happens in that alley - does it swallow cars whole or something? The sign is so disproportionately large and grave that some serious **** must go down come thaw..

Oddly enough I also used to live near here too.
They used to put that sign went up every winter as a warning for anyone using that alley, and about 4 years ago they didn't bother to take it down in the spring and just left it there.
