World Juniors 2010, game between Slovakia and Switzerland. In the parking lot, a dropped iPhone 3GS. I look at the numbers, find the guy's home number so I can rightfully return it, he gives me his tickets to the bronze medal game + $100 because it was his work phone and had very important information on it.

Good eyesight = free hockey tickets + $100

But I suppose that doesn't count as a deal.. Oh how about the time I got a Big Mac and another one for the price of one at McDonalds.. and they say coupons are worthless!

I swear by redflagdeals.com. Don't buy anything without starting there.

Among a lot of little stuff, the biggies were:

- info on how to get a car out of the US, saved $8,000 in 2006 (I know it's common knowledge now, but back then it was not, and this was before the auto co's starting messing with your warranty.)

- 50" Pioneer Kuro TV, saved about $2,500 in 09 (and didn't have to deal with soundsaround so +$500!!). Still the best tv ever made.

- 2 x $500 coupon applied on a new washer dryer at FS (may have been a price error, but in early). Reg $2,100. June '11.

- 4-day Vegas trip to the Encore (5 star) all in for $80--the famous Expedia coupon error. Nov '10

Totally forgot:
Not from redflag, but I also got two gold medal tickets on the VANOC ticket reselling site for $2,100 all in. Total blind luck, we figure the guy must have thought you were supposed to list the price per ticket instead of the price for the set. I logged on on 9 o'clock the Sunday a week before the game in the morning and just about dropped a load. Had to "borrow" my wife's visa without even asking to get it done. Saved at least $2,100 on the spot, but really it was priceless as there was no way I could afford 2K. (Even 1K seemed hard at the time). But they were less than half the price of the next lowest ticket and I had to jump.

Walmart in Sandpoint, Idaho had a deal for buy 1 WD 500GB harddrive and get one free. I bought 2, which meant 2 free ones, but they screwed up somehow and I got 4 for the price of 1.

Bought sunglasses from Nordstroms for a penny.

They were only cheep $20 glasses anyway but when they rang through they came up at 1 cent due to some discontinuation in their inventory.
I didn't even have a penny, so I took one from the little tray.

A high end mens clothing store (like Holt Renfrew) by my house had a closing sale yesterday which was also pretty awesome. Everything in the store was 75% off. I've never seem men go so crazy for a clothing sale. Line ups around the block, jeans flying everywhere.
Picked up $2000 worth of designer clothes for $500.

Good one actually.

Can't remember what my parents paid for K-12, but it was around $80/year from Grades 1-6, and $110/year for grades 7-12. I know our taxes help pay for it, but I would call 12 years worth of education for that kind of money one hell of a steal.

Anywhoo. Best deal "I ever gotten" was cost - 20% on ski gear. One of the few perks about working in retail. Got a brand new set of skis every winter and flipped the old ones to buddies for what I paid for them at the end of the season. They were still getting a smoking deal and I was kept in the current model year.

Needed to buy new hockey gloves. Spent about 15 min debating whether to buy a $40 pair of Easton gloves that were my size or an unmarked pair of CCMs that we're a little big. Since I broke my hand once and I tend to get hit on the hand alot, I went w/ the bigger ones so I could play even if my hand started swelling or something. Got to the counter, they were on clearance for $4. Cost me more to buy tape than it did for gloves.

I once won about 100 bucks US from a slot machine in Vegas, and then as I was walking over to cash in the quarters (this was in about 1996 of so) I threw a quarter in one of those jackpot machines and I won an additional 9500 bucks in quarters. The quarters were flying all over the place, they brought out large buckets and a dolly for me to catch everything. I don't recall how many exactly I had, but it was a lot. The canadian dollar was not worth very much, so add in about 20 more percent, minimum. Later at the airport, they paid me for my seat (an additional 250) and then I got a job that lasted almost five years all over the world. It all worked out very well for me.

Fries in Goodyear Arizona. I got my first bottle of liquor for $7.50 and my second bottle of 1 cent. We are talking about Smironoff vodka. Beer is so cheap down there - ie - 18 pack of bud light for $13.

Oh - and as far as mortgages - pay the f#### thing off - it's great to save all that money :-)

Come on (*NOT common) OP, you have to do better than "Best deal you ever gotten".

That is just a terrible attempt at replicating the written english language.

As a person living in a first world country, you should be ashamed of putting that out there.

Knew I had to fly to Dublin from London one October, but wasn't sure which week-end. Ryanair had a deal for flights £1 each way during October (no additional fees). I ended up booking each week-end just in case and ended up flying to Ireland five weeks in a row for £10.

A buddy in Newry who saw me out round town one of the week-ends asked me when I'd moved back (lived there for 3 years) and wouldn't believe that I hadn't.

Yeah "gotten" is equivalent to "took" for words that just don't sound right, ever.

the best deal i ever got....

a few years ago i bought a stereo for my truck - it wasn't anything insane - just a cd player with a removable faceplate (quite the upgrade from the stock chevrolet late 80s am/fm radio!)

i got it thru a&b sound and they had a 'get now pay in 6 months" deal going on. usually i don't bother with these deals but for what ever reason i thought why not.

i guess what happens with these deals is that a&b sound is paid by a finance company and then a few months later this finance company contacts you and you have to pay them... well the finance company went bankrupt and i got my stereo for free!!

I bought a 2L bottle of pop in SuperStore once for 99 cents. I think they mispriced it, because it was about $4 in their liquor store.
