Awesome Kitchen on 2nd and 12th. Best slice pizza I've had in uptown/downtown/midtown Calgary. 3.50 a slice. Really filling. Tandoori chicken pizza is amazing. The guy who works there is hilariously entertaining too, especially if you're drunk from being at one of the two neighbouring pubs: Drum & Monkey or the Hop-In.

Every time my family goes to Calgary or Edmonton my mom always has to go to Ikea so I usually tag along, bring $5 and find the cafeteria. The food is always good and outrageously cheap. They should open a chain of Ikea cafeterias with the same food at low prices. I'd visit it regularly.

my buddy introduced me to the subway wraps.
More filling than a 6 inch yet charged for 6 inch pricing
$3.60 for a ham wrap stuffed with veggies. Ask for shredded cheese and it seems like it is way more than the slices (at least you can taste the cheese more).

I dont think there is enough profit to do so. Im guessing the purpose is to keep people in the store longer or give people a reason to visit and hope they take a stroll with some goods at the end.

I would agree, its just another marketing ploy to attract customers. Start a chain and your cheap cafeteria is nothing special

I've been eating A Pizza Plus since the late eighties, and not even I can stomach the amount of pizza/cheese-grease you get for the money.
Honorable mention to Pho Huong Viet and all other Viet places for giant bowls of pho/vermicelli for less than $8.
Best deal in town for Indian in town is Mirchi (by Beltline Safeway). $17 Combo gets you 2 dishes, rice and salad (more than enough for 2 people), add in a few orders of Naan and its a wicked dinner for $20 for 2. Especially awesome considering most other indian places charge ~$15 per dish

Posted in the wrong thread so it belongs here:
if you like Bahn Mi, there is a divey place in Forest Lawn beside the old Rollerland was. They have the best Bahn mi (pork sandwiches) for like $3.50. Compare that to the $5 overpirced sandwiches they sell in Kensington area.

I had a chili cheese dog, crinkle cut fries and a medium soda at Nathan's in Airdrie today. Cost me about 10 bucks and was extremely filling. Good value imo.

He catered our last work function. The food was amazing, I can't wait to get down and have some again.

There is an Indian place right across from the Down town library, that has lunch buffet, but you have the option of a take out option for like $11 I believe. It is one of those large square Styrofoam containers that you fill off the buffet. I can never finish what I take.

There is a Korean restaurant in the mall accross from Harbor City in Chinatown (Center Street and 3rd Ave). Not only is the food amazingly good, it is pretty cheap as well. I think its $8 for a hot stone rice (best hot stone rice in Calgary IMO).

Its called Maharajah and the food there is excellent. Lunch buffet is $15 for eat in and $11 for take out (as you said). Their regular menu is a little cheaper than most Indian restaurants as well.
