Might be a bit tough for Gaudreau since he'll be a freshman and all.
I guess his brother Matthew has also committed to BC in a years time. I didn't know he had a brother and he went to the Omaha Lancers in the USHL in the 6th round.
can we get this thread off the top of the bakc burn pager? I never come in here, but on the main page all you see is one thread listed in back burner and it's "John Gaudreau has committed..."
Or change the top to John Gaudreau goes to Boston College
Definitely the better route for him than the OHL. Slow, patient development and becoming more physically ready is what he needs. No need to force him into the pros when he's 20, no need to have him play as an overager against boys if he's not. Buys both sides more time to see whether he'll be cut out for the pros or not.

Plus it's just a good life choice for him. I know that if I was him I'd choose college... Boston College seems to have a good hockey program so he'll continue to get better at his game while there and if he can't beat the odds then he'll have a paid for education to fall back on.
Don't be alarmed if Gaudreau has less than stellar numbers this year. Jerry York plays his oldest players the most, just look at Chris Kreider's numbers.

BC will mold him into a 2-way player. I hope for Gadreau's sake the Flames take their time with him. 3, maybe 4 years playing college before getting a contract.
