I might spend a little more time here than I should, but it's only because the world needs to have my clever quips documented..

Meh, some of your threads are dumb, but I find some of them entertaining especially in the non hockey season.

When hockey starts you'll probably have your thread making abilities taken away. This is a good thread though.

I'd say a good hour.

And if your boss catches you, just find a copy of this study.

“Browsing the Internet serves an important restorative function,” according to a report from the National University of Singapore.

So-called cyberloafing can refresh workers mentally after long periods of work, researchers said at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in San Antonio this week.

Surfing the Web is even better for productivity than talking or texting with friends or sending personal emails, the study found.

On a productive day? Maybe a half hour. On a wheel spinning day? Maybe two hours.

I dont think option84 deserves the amount of s... and abuse that gets served by some of you.

Online? None. I don't have internet access at work, and from those who do, I understand it's locked down pretty tightly.

However, I probably spend about 2-4 hours not really doing anything. It really depends, though. Usually once a week I have a day that's non-stop from punch in to punch out.

I've had a 12 hour day so far, and I just went to check how many posts I had today and to my surprise it was zero. So I guess today was a busy day.

I like to think I goof off a minimal amount of time. I do browse here every so often for a breather from work, but I don't take "pride" in not doing my work. I have plenty of it to do and plenty of responsibility which I take pretty seriously, and I enjoy my job immensely, so I really don't mind working. It's not really in my nature to try to take as much as I can without giving back. For me i'd much rather do a hard days work rather than surf the web all day. I'll feel much better when I go home knowing I got something done rather than watch a bunch of videos and got paid for nothing.

It would probably be a different story if I hated my job though.

Alot more than the people who report to me think (I hope).

That said, as a professional (by title only of course) I could goof off for 5 hours a day and as long as the work is getting done, no one really cares.

I love Option84's threads. I just know it will be full of lols and pop stories. Keep 'em coming.

Anyways to answer the question...depends how busy I am. Some days a couple hours, some days none at all.

Depends on my role. I've had jobs in the past where it was 5 hours out of an 8 hour day, I've also had busy roles where I'd go months without surfing.

I spend about 30 minutes a day during work hours, preferring to do most of my surfing in the evening. On busy days, nil. I own the company so can do whatever I want. Oh, and lately I've been averaging about 10 minutes a day fielding email from Vlad. Neither is a waste of time. (No, Vlad is not stalking me.)

Bob Slydell: You see, what we're actually trying to do here is, we're trying to get a feel for how people spend their day at work... so, if you would, would you walk us through a typical day, for you?

Peter Gibbons: Yeah.

Bob Slydell: Great.

Peter Gibbons: Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.

Bob Porter: Da-uh? Space out?

Peter Gibbons: Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work.
