I honestly have never tried store bought. My Grandmother used to make it in the basement on the wood stove. My Aunt in New Westminester found a specialty store that sold an electric frying pan you can make lefse on. Apparently it has to heat hotter than a normal frying pan. So I usually get my lefse fix when I visit the coast.
Lefse holds up well in the freezer so I imagine store bought would still be good. An added bonus is that I wouldn't have to help peel and rice the potatoes.
