Its a slow time for the league. Some guys get impatient with the lack of involvement that happens every season during the summer months. They like to have there roster completely set, money all squared away, roster limits taken care of...etc If others aren't doing the same then they must not care.
For others like me I feel there is no hurry. 2 months left yet and I normally take my time getting everything in order. I wont get bullied into making a trade just for the sake of it. Plenty of time to slowly tinker and get things in order.
I do like the mix of gm's we currently have and really like the direction the league has gone.

I was going to apply for that AGM job, but then I realised I was just setting myself up for disappointment. I mean sure you made the playoffs and a little further than me, but you didn't even make the finals...who wants to sign up for that kind of under achieving?

Personally I find it goes in pattern's one team will need a shake up and will make 2 or 3 or 4 trades in a week and they are done for 3 weeks or so.
If a team is playing really well why trade.... if a team is really struggling sometimes its hard to make a trade that works.
In the old days, GMs made 100+ trades a year maybe more.... but the league has changed for sure. GMs are all really good.
Summer is always slow.... just like the main forum with the Flames.

I really don't think that this thread is exclusively about this time of year or not trading when the team is doing well, to be honest it's not about trading at all. Participation shouldn't be measured by an amount of trades. This goes on during the sim season as well.
Off topic from the above, this excerpt is from the league rules "As a General manager you will need to actively pursue ways to make your team better via trades, UFA selections or any means available". There are some GMs who aren't active and their teams are bad and it's obvious nothing is being done to really change that. Anyone have thoughts on this?

I wasn't gonna give you the job anyways. I want a younger more dynamic AGM. Who can live up to my legacy, btw does that mean I'm a legacy GM? Legacy or Manny Legace?

Wow after re-reading the last paragraph of my last post it reads as quite harsh.
Guess what I'm getting at is that the rules should be more reflective of what the league expects or wants from GMs and perhaps slightly modified so that expectations are clearer.
I'm 100% on board with whatever the league decides.

Well, if teams are ever looking for help in getting prospects for their farm teams instead of having a 30+ crappy AHLers, let me know. I scout a lot, and usually do not have the room to add all of them and don't mind passing that info on.
Buying out a guy on a 3 year 750K 10% ahl contract costs only 70K, 40K for 2 years and 20K for a single year, so not really terrible in terms of impact to the pro team.

When I'm done (bored) there won't be such a thing known as cap.

The league is comfortable with the current situation.

If the league is comfortable with it, that's fine with me. Can we modify the rules to reflect what the league is comfortable with?

I really like the flexibility the Forum offers. I quit because things were just too hectic for me and they were kind enough to bring me back...I'm quite a bit less active this go-around but will make a lot of trades in a short period of time when I need to execute on my plan.
So basically, I used to be in your boat SweetDoc and wished more folks were online...and now I'm happy that I don't need to be online to stay in the league.

We are happy with what they say now. Again - they are primarily used to recruit GMs that will approach the league with a certain degree of commitment. If people are unsure of what the expectations are they can ask us and we will clarify. From what I read on hear tonight it seems most are fairly happy with how things are as well.

Agreed, not to mention many folks can not access "MSN" during the day due to really tight Firewalls at their work.
In my case, PM is way easier during the day for that exact reason.

The entire PM vs MSN is a tricky situation. Outside of a very few GMs, PMs are a horrible way to do business. As mentioned previously there are times I will wait 2 or 3 days for a response and there have been times I havent got a response at all. Regardless, it is what it is and I simply do not do business with that subset of GMs because I dont have a week or two to make a simple deal. MSN can hammer out a deal in 15 minutes.

I agree with this, I also have a list of GMs I simply don't bother with because I don't want a deal to take a week to finally happen. In a negotiation with many counters, getting 1 PM every 24-48 hours takes for ever.
I've also had times where I get no PM back at all.

I understand but the discussion was during work hours; many folks can not access MSN.
PM works great for some GMs during day hours.
MSN works great for evennings and weekends.

I have PMd during and after work hours...and likely a few after midnight.
I think...and this is just my thought...IF a GM has time to answer PMs, he has time to answer MSNs. Seems reasonable.

I have even received trade offers on horseback from Cheese... also, via telegraph and messenger pigeon.
