I'm sure not one of them spandex wearing dorks. I enjoy rollerblading though. There are some nice paths here in Lethbridge. I definitely see less people on blades these days like 15-20 years ago. Since my car just broke down I was thinking about rollerblading to work. I guess I'll bike so I don't look too gay.

It is odd that you don't see more people out in a hockey market city like Calgary and then you go places like Santa Barbara, San Diego, San Francisco, LA, and basically most major cities in the US and you will see lots of people inline skating. Anyone ever try a marathon on wheels? http://inlineskating.about.com/od/co..._marathons.htm
I think it would be fun to try but likely not going to happen here anytime soon?
Anyone Skike? http://www.skike.com/ I guess they have these in at Norseman.

Years ago I would blade on the path out to the airport. You can park a car in around the small hangers just North of McKnight Tr. at Barlow Tr. The path is reasonably level and a few KM long.

Probably because the people who know how to skate go to an arena to do it....

Still, nothing beats mentally breaking them down with slave driven practices and a healthy amount of yelling.

Yup, and he puts the "mate" in room-mate.
... and some other things in my butt.
I've got some rollerblades in the garage somewhere. Hills on skates are scary. Even JP Stock slid down the steep section of the Crashed Ice course on his bum.

I believe that path is now closed due to the new parallel runway construction.

Seriously? I never would've guessed people who skate on ice would say this kinda stuff.
Well, the next time you guys play hockey, look around the ice and count how many girls there are skating with you. Maybe you should reconsider calling it fruity if you couldnt count any girls and ended up counting the guys

Another place is around edworthy park. it's a pretty level pathway too. might be far though if you're in the south.

I don't know about you but I shower with my gear on, in the event that anyone on my hockey team is a closet rollerblader.

Carburn park is perfectly flat and you can cross the river and go down towards Anderson aways or north towards Glenmore. Even if you turn around when you start coming to hills you can get a decently long ride in. Shouldice to downtown and back is pretty flat as well, especially if you stay on the north side of the river.

The replacement pathway is paved, or at least part of it was when I went through. Likely will be done soon, if not already.
