I like the difference between Sarah McLachlan's "Dear God" and XTC's "Dear God". You know how you hear people say "Dear God" when they are absolutely appalled at something - disgusted beyond belief? Well, that is the way XTC sang theirs. In the manner of "If there is a God, we should be disgusted with what He has done."
But Sarah's was different. Same lyrics, but just different tone. You know how you hear people say "Dear God" when they are extremely sad... like when they hear that a loved one has passed away? Well, that's the way Sarah sang hers. In the manner of "If there is a God, how tremendously sad that He allows all this suffering".
Same lyrics, but tone just gives it a whole different meaning.

Anyhow, to the task at hand....
Black Sabbath is a crazy band. I guess with Ozzy as lead singer it should be expected to be a bit schizophrenic. But it was more that Ozzy, but Tony Iommi's influence that led to opposing views on religion. But there was a lot of questioning going on... such as "Iron Man" and "Who are You?". But "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" is right on point.
Uhm, "The Fight Song" by Marilyn Manson.
"Little Tin God" - Don Henley
"God" - John Lennon
"God Shuffled His Feet" - Crash Test Dummies
"Something to Believe In" - Offspring

Don't mean to derail this thread, I just find it funny that athiests are going to gather on Sunday to celebrate something they believe in.....that's religion in my books folks!!!
Tool - Opiate (specifically)
Bad Religion - Ummm... several (already mentioned)
Temple of the Dog - Wooden Jesus
Megadeth - Holy Wars - The Punishment Due
Jeff Buckley - Eternal Life
Dear God - XTC (already mentioned)
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Shallow Be Thy Game
NOFX - Best God in Show (and others)
That's a personal top list, bit I've heard them from all genres.
One guy I wish was atheist but isn't because he'd write a cool song about it is Bruce Cockburn.
