It's been mentioned but as another black coffee drinker I can't stand Tim's coffee. Do like their soup and sandwiches but if we're talking just coffee I'll take McDonald's ten times out of ten.

Maybe it's because I haven't been able to regularly have Timmie's for the last 18 years, but, even the few times I've been in Canada in the last few years, the doughnuts are still miles ahead of anything available in the US.
And yes, that does include Krispy Kreme. I'd kill for a Tim Horton's down here in Oregon.
Fruit filled bismarck timbits FTW!

The new smoothies are amazing if you get it with yogurt.

Oh, and in regards to the coffee...
I know it sounds weird. But give 7-11 a try. If they brew the Exclusive Blend Arabica Roast like they do down here, it is excellent. Much better than McDonalds since they stopped carrying Seattle's Best.

I don't find their coffee as good as it used to be. I 2nd the McDonalds coffee. As much as I hate to say it, as I really liked timmies coffee, it's far superior.

I don't know what they did, but for the last two years, eating a single timbit - no matter what the flavor - will make me ill for the rest of the day.

I find Tim Hortons to be a good roadtrip staple, otherwise I can get coffee anywhere and be ok with it. One of the larger problems I have with them is their inconsistency. I can get a good double-double from the Tim Hortons on Macleod and Glenmore and then get a terribly watery, bitter one from say Avenida or 24th and Anderson. For something that is essentially handeled by a machine (the sure-shot cream/sugar dispensor) it seems like it's impossible to get a consistent cup of coffee.
The food is pretty bland otherwise, but you get what you pay for. I pretty much stick to coffee from them. And yes, McDonalds does have excellent coffee.

Really Yasa? I find TH to have one of the best consistencies for a chain store. They pretty much only use a pack of grinds and water... hard to mess that up. Whereas McD's... I don't know why, but my coffee is always different. I think it has more to do with adding the cream and sugar. A small coffee is very different from a medium and a large. I thought all they do was press that button according to size, but maybe the machine is messed up. But overall McDonalds has superior coffee but there's something about TH that always draws me towards it.

They both use the sure-shot system. But yeah, I find TH to be so inconsistent that it's a gamble everytime I buy from a different location. I agree, it should be hard to mess up but for some reason I get single creams, no sugar, watery coffee, burnt coffee, too much sugar. I guess I can chalk it up to it being too busy or just mistakes but either way; it's a risk for decent coffee whenever I go.

I still enjoy having their chilli. Unless someone here wants to tell me why i should hate it, it's still better than chopped-up-burnt-hamburger-pieces Wendy's chilli

It's chopped up burnt pieces of pizza. Cannable.
Oh man. I think I just invented pizza chili. Who's in?

I consider it a place to stop in Golden for timbits while on a road trip with 2 kids and that's all. Otherwise, the donuts aren't that great, and there are better places around for those (I wish Krispy Kreme was still here, but Jelly Modern Donuts has replaced that hole in my heart), the coffee tastes diluted (I prefer an americano or bold roast from Starbucks), and their food is bland. I'll give the sandwiches kudos for being fresh and everything, but they really need to season the stuff a bit.

Eh they arean't anything special, but their dirt cheap, and their everywhere. The food is non-offensive and seems (yes, seems) better than Mcd's, Subway, BK type fare.

For the price, the coffee is fine. I always get 1 cream and 1 sugar. Also, the Deerfoot Meadows Tim's is the worst.

Agreed on the black coffee and the crappy lid comments. Their lids are totally useless, can't even be used in a moving vehicle. You've inspired me to write them a letter myself.
The one thing about Tim's that I like, is that it is often the only thing in the frickin' city open late.
Steeped tea with one milk is the only thing I get there once in a while, and it's not that great.

You Tim's black coffee haters are crazy! I love it. It's not that it's good coffee... there's just something comforting, almost addicting about that tar-ish, kind of burnt, licking an ashtray taste. .... okay, maybe I'm the crazy one.

I think you're just associating it with your crack schedule. Everytime you smoke crazy amounts of crack, you get a coffee. So now it has positive association.

I have to have my XL DD every morning but what's with the crappy lids? They have been leaking forever and they never change the lids. They never seal properly at the cup seam even when pushed down all the way which is a 50/50 proposition from the server. Drives me nuts as I walk across the street from work to get one every day and always end up with coffee running down my hand and sleeve.
