Kind of like with Superman, just keep releasing this junk until you get a billion dollars back. Even Spider-Man 3 made over 800 million at the box office, so quality is not always the best precursor for success.

As for the trailer, it seems very blah to me. We've seen it all before really, so they would have to blow the first movie out of the water for it to be well thought of. Although I can't wait for Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, Sensational Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, and Ultimate Spider-Man.

I do kind of hope this movie fails hard so Disney/Marvel can get Spider-Man's rights back, and he can be in the proper universe.

Serious question for people who watch a lot of comic book movies: has any comic book movie franchise actually been ended successfully? For example, with a well-made movie that sufficiently wraps up a franchise-long story arc? Or has every single franchise simply been milked until it sucks, then buried or relaunched?

I'm really optimistic that Nolan will do this with the third Batman movie, but the cynic in me thinks the ending will be compromised to be open-ended, and then add additional, crappy movies on.

Is there any word on who the villian is? I hope it is not Goblin or Doc Oc, I am tired of them. I would like to see someone like Craven, Lizard or Rhino. If done right Electro or Mysterio but they are easy to do wrong and I do not have faith that they can pull it off.

My issue is we all know the origins of Spiderman, but will have to sit through the first half (+?) of this movie to see... the origins of Spiderman again????

I really don't mind that, if it's well done.

The idea of the first person shot they used towards the end of the trailer was cool, but man that CGI was garbage.

I think this movie is supposed to follow the spectacular spiderman pretty closely.

My speculation is that the first person was only for promotional reasons and won't actually be in the film. I mean, Doom already showcased that and it became more of a laughing stock than anything else. It was most likely used as part of the teaser and nothing more. If it is actually part of it, then the movied will be doomed.

The POV, CGI, free-run scene looked dumb. I hate all CGI things.

I'm just tired of the continual reboots, its just lazy. We don't need the 500th story about Spiderman's creation.

They could have kept the stories going without the original stars.

At the intimate press conference prior to his Comic-Con panel for The Amazing Spider-Man, Andrew Garfield was as self-effacing as ever. When director Marc Webb said to "expect great things" from Garfield's chemistry with female lead Emma Stone, the actor demurred, "Don't expect too much. Expect some things. Expect us to be onscreen." Then, when Stone then confessed that she signed on to the Spider-Man reboot mostly because Garfield was already attached, the embarrassed Brit vigorously shook his head and buried his reddened face in his arm. It was enough to get you wondering whether the 27-year-old Garfield would be up to his high-pressure Hall H debut just an hour later.

We needn't have worried, though.

When the Spider-Man panel kicked off in the crowded, cavernous hall, Garfield appeared "incognito" as the first questioner at the microphone, dressed in a Halloween costume version of the Spidey suit. Then, after ripping off his mask, the clearly psyched actor delivered a heartfelt, handwritten speech about how important the role of Peter Parker means to him, and for the rest of the panel, he was clearly riding an energy high. Here is that emotional speech, in its entirety.

I wonder if Ralph Garman kidnapped Emma Stone after the panel.

Whats amazing to me is that people will continue to shell out money to see the same old stuff rehashed again and again and again. There is absolutely no need to re-make another Spiderman movie at this point in time. Ridiculous.

And yet numerous Spiderman comics come out every month and have for the last 50 years.

Since I don't acknowledge the existence of Spiderman 3 it has been a few years since the last movie.
