I dont want him in rehab (maybe 1 episode tops) but I dont want it to be a rehash of season 1, or the 2 below average seasons before the last one where they were trying to be like season 1 again either
Agreed. The show progressed nicely last season and has changed a lot since season 1, it'd be awkward (like 5 & 6, as you mentioned) if they tried to turn it back to its origins. Just embrace where you've taken it and keep going in that direction.
My only request is they wrap up this whole Ari divorce thing quickly. Just really don't give 2 craps about his family situation. If anything I think it makes more sense for him to be single anyway, given his job/attitude. He'd be comedy if he was newly single & macking on women, with that ego.
Totally. Once breaking bad ended, my tv thoughts went all to entourage. I'm deciding to pvr true blood and watch tomorrow so as not to put me in a bad mood for entourage. God, I hate true blood.
Just finished up the latest episode, my feelings about it are very 'meh'. I really wanted them to conclude this series on a high note after a few less than stellar seasons; after that episode I don't have much faith.
Thought it was a relatively average premiere. But the show is still solid and has the best pace of any show I can think of. It's pretty clear the show is no longer a full on comedy anymore, and that's okay by me. As long as the stories remain interesting, I'm still gonna enjoy the show.
They couldn't do eight seasons of Vince and the guys trying to get laid and buy fancy toys. The guys had to grow up and so does the show and it did.
The Sloan Eric twist kinda caught me off guard.
Bad cameos tonight, Johnny galecki and a voice cAmeo fromDice clay.......weak

Just watched it again. The one thing I didnt like at all was the Vince being "disappointed" in eric angle. They didn't really get into it at all outside of their speech at te party and that was for about fifteen seconds. I like when Vince and Eric aren't all chummy, I wouldn't mind seein then have another fight like the finales of s1, 2 and 5. There's always some strong scenes there.

Like KFF said above, the episode was mostly "meh".
The one bright spot was Ari's reaction when his wife told him she was seeing someone else. Entourage and this role threw Jeremy Piven into the spotlight, but I think it's time to move on, the guy can be a huge star, very good actor.

Very true, that's why I was excited about that movie "The Goods: Sell Hard". Then I watched it...ughh..

Yeah I thought that was odd too. They built up a rift for most of the episode and suddenly it just vanished based on a quick sentence. They didn't really acknowledge what the problem was. This show has done it before with the Vince and Eric rifts. I can't remember what season it was that Eric quit as Vince's manager but they pretty much cleared the air within an episode...seemed like too easy of a resolution for all the time they put into making the rift happen.

They added some things, but barley touched on them. The episode felt rushed, and I hate the Scott character. Was never a fan when he was added, just like when Dom joined the crew and stole the Shrek doll.
Eric/Sloan threw me off, but they did nothing really to get into. Eric/Vince they never touched on it, and they seemed to patch it up without ever really getting into a issue to patch up.

Completely sensical cameos. The whole point is that Vince was what drew n the A-list crowd, he was the star. Without him these are lower tier guys in Hollywood just trying to make a living. That's not believable if they're hanging around with Leo.
As to some of the other comments in the thread about the stories not being explored, what do you expect in 30 mins? It's the first episode and a number of major twists were introduced, I'd prefer that things are left in the dark as opposed to some rushed 'then this happened and this happened and here we are today' BS. Let the stories develop.
Sometimes I get the sense that people still expect this to be the 'Vince bangs hot girls and everyone parties' show it was 7 seasons ago, it's not that show anymore, if that's what you're looking for you're looking in the wrong place.

Huh?? Doesn't matter if the cameos were related to Vince or Lloyd, the cameos from Ep 1 were pretty weak.
There's been plenty of bigger cameos in the show that had nothing to do with a Vince storyline whatsoever.
Mike Tyson, Jessica Simpson, Aaron Sorkin, Michael Phelps, Mark Whalberg, Queen Latifah, Drew Brees, Ryan Howard, 50 Cent all come to mind off the top of my head. I'm sure there's plenty more.
My point being is that this show is known for having at least 1 or 2 solid cameos in each episode. I thought the cameos in Ep1 were weak. Not a big deal, just something I noticed.

And my point is that big name cameos don't make sense for where the characters are positioned in episode 1. B-list cameos like this reinforce the point that without Vince around these guys aren't hanging with A-listers, they've been knocked down a rung on the Hollywood ladder. That part of the storyline is completely lost if A-list celebs are popping up, it's business as usual for them regardless of Vince not being around. An A-list cameo related to Ari doesn't even make sense considering part of his storyline is that his work is struggling (note the scene where Lloyd points out that he hasn't done anything). This was an example of using cameos that work, as opposed to just jamming some star into the story for the sake of doing so.
