I heard that Peter's is going to cease operations soon anyhow. I think it got passed down to the owners children and they don't feel like keeping it going.

Really? Like the food or not, but owning that place has got to be close to printing your own money...

But I would imagine that selling it would line their pockets quite nicely. Perhaps they'd be in the financial position to retire immediately.

I thought it was the 16th avenue expansion that was putting them out of business?

A friend and I got food poisoning from Peter's a few years ago. I havent eaten there since. I never really enjoyed the burgers anyway and the fries were always just a big ol soggy mess-in-a-box.
Where on Blackfoot is this bus? Ive heard of it before and will go check it out.

Rocky's Burger Bus is a few blocks East of Blackfoot motorsports (big red bus). You can't miss it.

If the 16 Avenue expansion is taking out Peter's then it's going to be some fun to see The Brick on 16th and Centre Street being demolished.

I'm pretty sure it's still there. Chicken so greasy it'll tear a brown paper bag.

Peter's burgers....over rated.
Fries.....bland and soggy, but HUGE portions
Onion rings....decent.
Shakes are what makes the place......I always thought they had a huge reputation for being a clean place......guess not.

E.coli is a trickly thing to avoid. Everyone knows to always cook burgers til there's no pink left in the center, but... another very easy way to transmit it is on fresh vegtables.
Not necessarily the case here, but it's pretty tough to "properly cook" a garden salad.

Shakes it is:
CALGARY/AM770CHQR - The Calgary Health Region says there are 10 cases of confirmed or suspected cases of e-coli infection that appear to be connected with Peter's Drive-in on 16th Avenue north.
The CHR says all victims consumed marshmallow milkshakes.
It says the source of the contamination is thought to be milkshake flavouring, NOT ground beef.
None of the victims is seriously ill.
There are between 50 and 100 cases of E-coli cases reported in the Calgary area each year.
The CHR says burger joint owner Gus Pieters has fully co-operated with inspectors. Peter's closed voluntarily Tuesday night, but re-opened Wednesday morning.

Geez how do they know it's E.Coli? Seems to me just a plain old "marshmellow shake" would be enough to make most people sick.

Its true...how do they know its Ecoli? An easy buzzword, and I am sure the symptoms are likely the same, but it could be some allergic reaction in some people to the chemical or whatever (likely petroleum based, given its a simulated ingredient in the first place) ingredient it is, not necessarily Ecoli.
Regardless.
So so on the burgers here, but every so often one does have a craving for them.
Meh to the Fries, and the onion rings are good in small doses.
The triple threat of all 3 seems to harden in ones stomach..so for me its one or the other.
And the beet chips...hmm isn't there somewhere else on 10th ave that also likley causes "rectal discomfort"? Hope you're not getting those confused!

I personally think Peters has some of the better fast food period. I love the burgers and the fries are decent as well. Nothing can beat a nice triple burger from Peter's with a milkshake. Can anyone here claim that McDonald's has better food then Peter's? I think McDinks has the worst, soggy, small disgustingly creamy burgers alive. I mean 1000 Island dressing in a Big Mac? hmmmmm....

Their burgers sucked any damn way... Their milk shakes on the other hand are the worlds best. Harvey's are the best burgers in the city bar none.
edit:::
After reading above.... Marshmallow was my favorite Shake there!!! Godammit Now I have no reason to go there anymore.

Marshmallows suck. Blech. Little know fact: Marshmallows first began as congealed sugary gizz puffs. [/b][/quote]

They know it's e-coli because they would have done tests for it.
That's too bad for this restaurant because it's not their fault if they ordered contaminated marshmallow stuff.
It's like when they had those issues with donair shops in town earlier this year. It wasn't the individual stores faults it was the place that mixed the meat up for them.
