Jays aggresive baserunning has resulted in two throw outs by Lopez. 0/2 so far, but I geuss these nights are gonna happen with the way the Jays are playing ball.
Towers looking really good tonight, the Jays needed a kind of start like this to especially with the pen being used as much as it has in the last few games. Halladay tommorow, man it would be nice to be up 2-0 in the series for that. Nice to see Zaun nab a baserunner, now the Jays just need to get a man across home plate.
Blue jays 7 k's already tonight and once again wells is doing nothing 0-3.

1-0 jays. Adams with an infield single cashing in Hinske, kind of a broken play.
They actually tried a suicide squeeze too!

Pretty crazy DP on a brutal swing by Johnson. I hope 1 is enough.

Jays win!
1-0. A masterful performance by Towers and a perfect 9th by Batista who is looking more and more comfortable in the closer's role each time out.

Best outting by Batista I've seen all year.
Towers allows 3 hits and 1 BB, WOW!
Some masterful games being put up by the Jay's staff.

Also worth noting, none of them made it to 2nd base! An outstanding performance from the mound tonight, becoming a recurring theme of late.

I got a little worried when Sosa was doing his sidestep out of the batters box there, but this was a great game, all the more remarkable given the number of runs that the Orioles have had lately. The entire AL East has been batting great--as of tonight, the Orioles, Red Sox, Jays and Yankees are the top four teams in terms of runs scored, for either league. But nobody in the division has had really great pitching. If Toronto's pitching can stay consistent, they're in great shape to compete for the wildcard spot or better.

Man, I'm really enjoying watching baseball right now...........not just because the Jays are doing better than I expected, but because almost every game so far has been exciting to watch. They're kind of like the Flames of baseball..........not a ton of offensive power (seemingly, on paper), but they seem resilient and work their butts off. Nice to see.
I'm going to T.O in June to see them for the first time........hopefully they'll still be near the top of the standings.

The games have certainly been fun (for the most part). Not having hockey to watch all winter has certainly helped me latch on to the Jays a lot more than I usually would (especially this early on) I think pitching battles are terrific (3 hitter tonight, 3 hitter on Friday...)
Another excellent performance by the pitching staff tonight. Wells' early season woes continue (but he's always been like that I guess so I'll let it slide....) All told, they're just plain getting it done.

I agree with you big-time...never really a baseball fan before I wanted to take an interest this year because I feel sports-deprived with the lockout.
The Jays have thus far helped keep me interested and I am now following baseball more than ever before and really enjoying it. Hope they keep it up but even if they don't I have a newfound appreciation for the sport.

I really enjoy Gibbons as a manager to. He sticks with his guys and in my mind is the perfect fit for this team.
The bullpen is finally coming around and has looked great of late, starting pitching has been there for the Jays the whole year and if we can just have a little more clutch hitting with runners in scoring position this team will keep going upwards.
Remember it's still a long long season though...
Doc goes tommorow afternoon, a sweep of the hottest team in baseball in there barn would be awsome especially after taking 2/3 in Yankee Stadium.

And the 1 walk he got was crap. I don't know how the ump called that a ball. None the less Towers has excellent control. One of the lowest number of walks in the league. Catchers were also on fire tonight. Two CSs for each catcher plus a pick off for Towers.

Jays with runners on 1st and 2nd with none out in the top of the first.
After those first two baserunners, Bedard has been incredible, striking out five of the next six batters--the Jays look completely baffled against him.

Bedard has been dynamite so far.
Looks good for Team Canada when the world cup of baseball comes around.
Looks like it could be another pitchers duel today.

Jays are sure putting on a good show these days.
I like how they have responded when they get behind.
Last year they would have wilted and gone home. THis year they keep scrapping.
I to dont usually watch that much Baseball but with no Hockey this seemed like a good subsitute this year. Atleast till the CFL is back.

Still tied at zeroes. 5 hits on Halliday, Bedard's throwing a 1 hitter. We're missing another great pitching duel by the sounds of it.

So against the best hitting team in baseball, through 25 innings, the Jays have allowed only 2 runs.
Wow.

Haha, stupid Baltimore fans.
With Hinske batting, they are taunting him by chanting "Eric, Eric" the way we would chant the opposing goalies name.
Apparently they don't realize their pitcher's first name also happens to be Eric, so maybe they hexed the wrong guy?
Hinske doubles...nice.
