I would absolutely go for that. A year and a half, moving to place where you're already going to be set up with a job? Sounds like a good way to have fun even without consideration of the fact that Victoria is a really nice place. Besides, what's the alternative, a lifetime in the same city you're in now?

Nothing to lose. Just go for it.

This story does not yet have a resolution. This week, and more importantly yesterday the Calgary branch I work with has matched the offer to stay here.

Just made my life and the situation more complicated.

Some background I work in commercial banking, and the need for trained people within the organization seems to be growing.

Are you going to be signing a contract? If not, I don't see any reason why a person your age wouldn't go for it. Even with a contract, it's just a year and a half.
Your friends and family will all be almost exactly the same if you decide to come back afterward, but you'll have notched a life experience.
I did the same thing once, just not in Victoria. Moving away for awhile was simply awesome. It kind of forces you to sharpen some of your friend making and survival skills, and it's just fun to change the pace.
