Lots of youtube songs. Rock. Crunchy guitars, no death metal, some new (released in the last few months) and some within the last few years.

A little more punky but I'm a huge fan of The Thermals. The body, the Blood, the machine is probably their best album so far.

I don't think I'll ever get sick of this song. Hope you like it, too!

Songs to buy:
Johnny Cash - Hurt - You'll like this one
Who wouldn't love that song, you'd have to be dead to not like it.
I also like Stars, and that song, but I have to throw the homosexual police off my tail.

Rock? Doesn't get much newer then My Morning Jacket : Circuital. Released today. May not be hard rock but it is interesting rock. They always put together pretty consistent albums that you can listen through. If you want heavy/hard rock Japandroids "No singles" in addition to "Post nothing" never gets old!

That entire album is amazing and you know it. Now excuse me while I put on my American Apparel cardigan over my v-neck tee and grab a latte.

I didn't say they were mellow, just that they might be "more mellow" than the OP was looking for. He specifically mentioned rock and "crunchy guitars."
Trust me, I am not looking to badmouth Mumford and Sons. I friggin love their music. But I wouldn't really call it rock, that's all.

Crunchy guitars hey?
cKy - Infiltrate.Destroy.Rebuild
A good starting album for someone looking to get into cKy. They are a very riff oriented band.
