I spent almost two weeks in the Netherlands and didn't hit up any of the cafes. They have enough to see and do there to eliminate the weed tourism. Anyways it's not going to be hard to get it there still if a tourist really wants it.

They aren't shutting down the coffe shops, just restricting the tourists from them. I was trying to imply that considering the countries black market activity, I would bet that if a tourist walked into a coffee shop with cash, they aren't going to turn you down.

But if you're just going there for the pot then you're right, just stay home.

It makes me sad that one of the bastions of liberalism is becoming less liberal. And I've never smoked pot in my life.

I've been to both those places and have no idea what you're talking about. What baggage?

It's true, the street life really is cool without the weed. When I first stayed there I wasn't near the Red Light District and I had plenty of fun (I still went to the RLD, but there were always parties and stuff to do away from there, closer to by hotel).

My second time there which was a couple months after, I stayed in the RLD and I mostly just got baked with everyone from the hostel like every day.

First time I was there for 3 nights, never went to a cafe and had a great time, 2nd time I was there for 4 nights, but it was mostly just a "let's get baked" 4 nights. That isn't to say I hit up a ton of museums, Anne Franks house, etc.

That's pretty dangerous after spending time in the coffee shops with the wierd girly Euro bikes they have for rental there and the small bike lanes that are next to the traffic.

But yeah, biking in Amsterdam is nice.
