Enjoy our English plug, it shouldn't need much more than a small wheeled suitcase to move around, in case your wondering why we have plugs about the size of a small child, I don't know, it makes no sense to the Brits either.

Actually I think the better question is, why do you guys plug in over there that requires a steady 230 volts?

European Engineers had looked at the North American 120v/60hz and determined using a higher voltage would require less copper wiring as Higher voltage draws less amperage. The downside other than being more dangerous is the 50hz frequency. The transformers require more iron.

Also it is speculation that at the time the engineers were pressured to produce a different product then America had come out with.
