I bought a Coleman earlier in the year. Nobody has mentioned them yet. So far I'm a big fan and can't see it deteriorating in the future.

Is yours natural gas? I had one and had the same issue with it but using my parents' same model but with propane at the cottage I had no problem burying the needle.

I picked up the Broil King Mnoarch 20 (http://www.barbecuesgalore.ca/cooking.bpsx?CookingID=1) about 5 years ago from Barbeques Galore and have been very happy with it. The cover it came with didn't last through a couple of winters so I tossed that and just leave it out in the open all year round. More convenient anyhow since we have a small balcony and the bbq cover gets in the way.

Like one poster said, I am also having trouble getting it pre-heated to anything higher than 500F. I know burgers and everything cook okay still, but some of the recipes are hard to follow - i.e. preheat to 700F and then turn down to medium. What does that mean if I can't get it to 700F to begin with?

Anyway, I also picked up a small portable one from Costco (http://reviews.costco.ca/2070-en_ca/...onTime&dir=asc) for camping. It was about $50, and it works okay but the handles on the side are not very sturdy. Grease and burnt crud also seem to fall out easily, which I learned the hard way after putting it back in the car following a picnic.

Love my Vermont Castings bbq. Similar in quality to a Weber.

Definitely go to a BBQ store over home depot as they help you out a lot more. Better service down the road for parts and advice.

Did you get it in Calgary? I'm having trouble finding a place that sells Vermont Casings.

I have a Broil King for about 8 years now, but I've used a Vermont Casing, and it's what want next.

My Dad picked up 2 at BBQ's Galore in Edmonton about 3 years ago. They had such a good deal on them he ended up buying me one!

A dozen Spolumbos and a non-hot surface to put a cold beverage upon.

My Weber Summit 650 will go to 700 degrees in well-under 10 minutes....on two of the six burners. It's scary hot.

On an un-related note....don't go and fill a propane tank that the neighborhood hooligans have, apparently, shot a pellet gun at. The propane leaks all over your trunk and you have to call the fire department. That was an interesting mother's day.

The Seasonal Manager at Lowe's in McKenzie was a manager at Barbeque's Galore. He really knows his stuff. Ask for Grant. We also offer free assembly and price match. And, yes, I work there too (currently having fun refusing to serve customers wearing Canuck jerseys .....)
