I have been monitoring its reviews, and 80% is the lowest it has been at (in the 90's most of the week).
Checked it out a few hours ago. I agree that it was very well done, and much better than I expected. Marvel/Disney is doing a wonderful job in creating their own unique universe of heroes though each of their films. DC must be jealous as all hell, and it's too damn bad Disney does not have the rights to Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and X-Men.
Make sure you stay after the credits btw. Always been a fan on the CC myself. I just wonder who the villain will be for the Avengers movie (or will it be a combination of many).
I did see it in 3D (free with 1000 Scene points). Not a huge fan in 3D in general, but it wasn't a distraction like it was in other films (Clash of the Titans). You won't miss much seeing it in 2D, but without the additional $3 fee, the 3D is worth it.
Oh and loved the cameos by Hawkeye, and Luke Cage! (not 100% sure the one guy was Cage though).
Honestly with Super 8, Cowboys & Aliens, Captain America, X-Men First Class, and a couple other films (other than Pirates and Transformers) I am pretty amped for the other "Summer" 2011 movies. Sorry Blaster... it could be good!

Just got back from Thor - I thought it was very good. 7/10, or 8/10 if you are a Marvel fan. Good acting for a movie like this.
After the credits there is a teaser with Nick Fury.
Asgard and the Bifrost Bridge look really cool. Loki was well done.

I will say however that while I was watching the movie, I never once thought that the movie would be better in 3D. Maybe a couple of the scenes where they are travelling from realm to realm might have been cool, but outside of that, 3D wouldn't have added to the experience for me. I do have a bias against 3D and hopes it goes away soon, but I don't think it will.

I saw it in 3D on Wednesday for the preview, and I agree with everything you say. There was no really huge 3D moment in the film, and a few times in the beginning, with the darkness and the action, it just served to make me nauseous.
Loved it though, and even the wife, who knew nothing of the character, quite enjoyed it

Flixter had it at 50% this morning according to the radio. Honestly, why would I lie about something so dumb?

Just got back and I really enjoyed it. 7/10 or 8/10. Good humor and action sequences for the most part. Decent acting too.
I don't know why some of those critics hated it so much.

good movie, much better than the previews made it out to be. i'm pretty pumped for The Avengers now, though i'm curious to see how they handle Thor being so much more powerful than the other 3
and the 3D definitely didn't add anything to the movie. it wasn't bad or a distraction, they just never made good use of it, kind of like Tron

I saw the movie yesterday and I thought it was well done. Didn't know anything about Thor or the comic before but I was thought the movie was pretty good.

If by the three you mean Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man; in the comics Thor gets consistently beat by Hulk, and could be considered the weaker hero of the two. I get where you're coming from though, especially when it comes to Cap, but they'll find ways around that.
It's like how in DC, Batman is a mere human, and could be destroyed by many DC heroes. But, many consider him to be the most dangerous as them all, as he knows all their weaknesses, and usually comes out on top in various battles (look no further than him taking down Superman in Dark Knight Returns).

wtf is batman doing goofing around with superman. All this comic book nonsense is ridiculous. Hulk fighting Thor.... Hulk is a genetic mutation caused by a freak accident in biochemistry and genetic engineering.... Thor is a Norse God, why the hell are they fighting? It just completely ruins the idea of an imaginary world by destroying any sense of a feasible story.

Thor is one of the worst comic book heroes ever.

Yeah, I went into this movie with pretty low expectations due to the trailers but ended up really enjoying the movie.

I'm giving it a 7/10. Good acting and story line. Plot a little slow but, you expect that when they are introducing a character.
What I didn't like was who they cast for Thor. I think Thor should have been bigger. He is after all a Norseman. I guess I visualized someone who was a little more physically imposing. The guy did do a good job acting.
This Thor was different than the comic book character in that they toned down his drinking. When Thor wasn't in battle he was enjoying large amounts of mead. Perhaps they will show a little more of that side of him in the next movie.

I thought it was pretty good. The character and relationship development by the time they got to Earth was pretty weak IMO and took a lot away from the movie.
Pretty weak IMO. Also the frost giants were all over the place. At some points they were super powerful and at other points dozens of them are taken out with a spear...
If you could shut off your brain and go with it, it was a decent movie, but it was far from a great superhero movie. Every superhero movie involves shutting off your brain somewhat, but Thor was nowhere near some of the great recent superhero movies for me. Much worse than movies like the Dark Knight, X-men 2, Ironman, etc... More of an X-men 3 calibre.

X-men 3 was possibly the worse super hero movie ever made, Brett Ratner should have been banned from making movies after it
I thought Thor was 7/10
better than Iron Man 2, not as good as Iron Man in terms of recent Marvel movies
very excited for the Avengers though
and the scene after the credits sets up what is a rumored big part of Captain America and the Avengers, I thought it was pretty cool

Submitted for your consideration: George Clooney's rubber nipples...
Did anyone ever see Superman 4? Seriously, anyone? Do they even acknowledge that it was made any more?
Also, except for playing "spot the thing from early-80s Calgary", Superman 3 isn't really worth watching either.

I share mostly the same consensus as others here. I agree with the OP in that Thor should have displayed more power on earth.
To me the biggest downfall was a great villain. The frost giants had their moments but the main antagonist was lukewarm at best.
I saw it in 3D and found myself taking off the glasses as much as possible. Not one single "whoa" moment in 3D (though I find the whole concept overrated anyways) and it only made the movie darker.
3.5 stars out of 5.
