Mine is similar to pylon's in the sense that it has to do with shopping and browsing. I have multiple mid-quality hockey sticks, and don't need new ones... But I always find myself inspecting, and testing out the cheap wood ones like I'm gonna buy one.

Yeah, when I find a good song or album I like, I will only listen to them for months until I get sick of them and never listen to them again.

I can see how that can also be a benefit

I always find myself purchasing the box or product that is behind the one that is being displayed. So if I'm buying a can of soup, I pick the one behind the one that is in front, even though in my mind, there is no way there is any quality difference whatsoever, I must do this.

And if the display one is the only one, instead of thinking "hey, i got the last one - great", I think, "crap, what is wrong with this one".

I sure hope I posted the right video. I can't confirm though because I can't see youtube from work.

As an aside, they should rename it CDO instead of OCD. That way it's in alphabetical order.
Video works fine.

Yeah, I know a guy that I used to hang out with when I was a teen that is a pretty serious OCD now, basically doesn't have much of a life at all.

When I drive through Saskatchewan I play a game called "even tire wear." Sask has a lot of patch work on their roads; and it causes a vibration in the tires. If there is nobody around (like 90% of the time) I will move around in my lane to make sure my tires get even wear on them.

One time driving back from Winnipeg with a buddy he asked me "what the heck are you doing?" I explained the game, and he replied "you're weird" and went back to his book. A few minutes later he piped up "you need more on the right now." I said "I know."

Now his wife is mad at me because their kids play that game too.

I do that too, for two reasons: The one in the front has been pawed over by other people (not necessarily true), and stores rotate their stock to ensure the older product is in the front, so by taking stuff from the back of the shelf, you're getting newer stock.

I also hate buying the last item on the shelf.

Also, when I buy milk or anything else with a Best Before date on it, I'll always buy the one with the latest expiration date, even if it's something I know I'll consume long before that date arrives.

hmmm...

Outside of the fact that I must have all the clothes in my drawers and closets organized by color and neatly folded not a lot!
Folds are done accurately as in a men's wear store, socks are perfectly folded and lay flat....
I must do my own laundry and fold or hang my own clothes, my wife loves me.
She never puts her crap away, drives me nuts.

One of my idiosyncrasies is that when I'm cooking at home, everything needs to be planned, very well organized, measured, and I follow strict food safety protocol.

It drives my girlfriend nuts, because when she gets in the kitchen it's all willy-nilly and anything goes. Likewise, that style drives me nuts. It's tough for us to cook together.

I count the number of letters in words. Been doing it since I was a kid, I break them into parts of 3 letters and count the sets of 3 and add any remainders. I can count the letters in most words in under a second.

I'm super OCD with the quality of my books. It doesn't matter if is a nice book, or some cheap piece of crap. I take extraordinary measure to ensure that the spine, cover and pages take as little damage as possible. If someone bends a cover or drops my book, I tear up a little. When I'm backpacking, I wrap my books up in several layers of clothes and pack them tight to make sure they take minimal damage.

I call these TKPs - Time Killing Poops

I have a strange obsession with flashlights. Especially high powered LED flashlights. I probably have around 15, and they each have a nickname.

I also can't stand filthy keyboards/mouse grime. The thing Im looking forward to most this weekend is bringing my work keyboard home, taking it apart and cleaning it.

I wonder if the amount of OCD type behaviour is higher among forum users than the general population.

I used to have this thing as a kid where I had to flew my lower jaw and when I did that I had to make a little sound. Not a loud one but just to make a tiny sound. Got to the point where it looked like I had a problem of tics. Thank God that went away... but it was messed.

When I do laundry everything must be inside out except socks and boxers. Nothing ever goes in the dryer and when I'm haning up all shirts all the hangers must be the same way and all of the shirts must be facing the same direction.

All of my laundry is militantly separated by colour and I sometimes even hang them to dry by colour.

I guess mine are food related. I can't eat a bad cut of beef. I love my mom dearly, but the woman just does not know how to cook a steak.

When friends invite me over for steaks I insist on bringing and cooking my own meat. If it's someone I know makes crappy steaks and I can't take and cook my own, I will make an excuse to not even go.

I cringe when I see someone eating a bad cut or an improperly cooked steak, or ruining a good steak by marinating it in beer or some other crappy marinade.

I have to organize things. Like, the papers on my desk. Nothing can be crooked, they all have to sit at the same angle, with the edges of the paper being parallel to the edges of the desk. I didn't notice I did that until somebody watched me at a meeting, organizing all the handouts neatly in front of me. If I stack papers/handouts, they have to be perfectly piled up too.

I also have to organize my shirts/sweaters in my closet. Plain t-shirts, shirts with logo/design/pattern etc, sweatshirts, plain polo shirts, striped polo shirts, long sleeve button up shirts, short sleeve button up shirts, hoodies, and jerseys. They all have to face the same way (right shoulder at the back of the closet). I get my wife to hang any clothes up to the left of my jerseys and then I'll resort them when I get home.

I'm not too obsessive about organizing though. I can leave the stuff on my desk in disarray for a few days, or I can forgoe sorting the shirts in my closet for a few days but I don't go much longer than a week without re-organizing things.

I'm obsessed with money. There is something I want to buy today - and I still might - but I've worked it out to be 0.75% of my gross income for the year. Is it really worth 0.75% of my income?! I'm not sure yet, so I'll be pondering it some more. Obsessively. All day. And all night, whether I buy it or not.
