Would also add that D E F are the colourless grades. Stick with F as you don't really need to get an E or D colourness diamond. With a yellow gold band, you can even go with a little yellower grade and it won't be obvious.
Also, the price of diamonds jump at the major weight settings. You'll pay a premium at certain weight intervals. For instance, a 1 carat vs a .95 or a .7 vs a .75

Be smart about it. Tell the woman you can't afford it, and you'll get her a nice one for the 10th anniversary. That way, in case of divorce, you're golden...
Also, try Henry's in TD Square. Like a good Chinese merchant, he will barter, so you can get a nice discount off the retail price. I've bought 3 or 4 items there.

My motto:

I have always liked Wong Kens. He used to be in Southcenter, but has moved to Willow Park Shopping Center now.

Had a nightmare of an experience at Spence. Will never set foot in the door again, and suggest avoiding it to anyone who's looking to buy a ring.

I know a couple who's engagement just fizzled and they're looking to sell the ring. Was about $10K retail, there is a great deal to be had. PM me if you want more info.

Oh yeah, unless you live in Edmonton, you should be going for a white gold band.

Really? I walked in there with my brother and they didnt even look at me. The store is WAY too small in terms of choices, and i just got this feeling of ######baggery when i was there. Not a big fan.

Another thing to note, i hate when people say things like "I paid $1000 for my ring, it was appraised at $2500"
Ever notice that EVERYONE says this? I think its safe to say that those appraisals are bogus, every single person i have ever talked to has said the same thing.

Kinda messed up the way people like shiny things. You know what else likes shiny things? Raccoons. Also crows.
