Despite really needing a vacation, our vacation plans have been downgraded from San Diego, to Vancouver, to driving to Winnipeg and staying mostly with relatives.

Can we take a road trip in your red van? We could go to exciting places like Innisfail and Lac La Biche!

I'm probably in the minority in this, but I personally get more enjoyment out of buying a thing than buying a trip. If I had to choose between going to Mexico or buying a really, really big TV, I would pick the TV every time.

speaking of traveling, has anyone bought a prepaid SIM card to use in the states? Do you buy these at the airports or something you need to purchase online?
To clarify, I am looking for my blackberry so I can use BBM.

I had plans to go to Vegas in November, and that didn't happen. Then I had plans (and put some money down) to go to Mexico next month, and now that's not happening (and I lost my money. Booooo). Then I was planning on going to Vancouver over the summer, aaaand now that's not happening. I'm just itching to get out of Calgary now.
Stupid trying to save money....

The missus and I never travel in the summer anymore . . . . . summer days at our place.
But October to May is open season for seeing the world.

These days I spend most of the winter in Phoenix, and the summers in Alberta. Unfortunately, my winter in Phoenix comes to an end on Sunday, when I'm driving back to Alberta

Good one.
I cannot think of anyone who would want to escape a place with spring temperatures constantly hovering at zero with the risk of a large, wet snow dumps coming weekly. I mean....that's paradise!!

I agree completely. I love spring. I'm thinking of holding a barbeque one day, and going on a hike the other day of spring this year.

Haven't been home to the Flathead for 3 summers now and this year is looking pretty good to be the 4th. It's killing me.
