I'd guess the whole box side is heavily damaged, I'm surprised there was no paint transfer ??

Phone the license plate into the police, get his insurance information and be done with it?
Otherwise we could always raise an angry mob, afterall... there is no justice like mob justice

If there's no nearby or obvious watering hole, then it could be someone on her street had a house party - is the road out front a major thoroughfare, or is traffic limited?

There's a bar nearby, Tudor Rose, but it isn't really close to the road and there are some detours that the guy could have turned at before so he might not have to pass it.
Road is a fairly major road, runs through most of Panorama and connects to several exits. Closest exit would have been to Stoney Trial E via 14th Street, you can also turn off at Hidden Creek Blvd to get to Bedding trial or go all the way to the other side of Panorama to get to the Superstore exit... there are a few other exits through residential areas as well.

yeah but maybe he came from the bar, and they would be able to give the police the licence plate number if he did and they can go to his house and check the vehicle.

Already let my friend know, she's going after work to see if Tudor Rose has any cameras pointed to the road or if they had any truck driving drunks walking out near closing time.

There's more than just the Tudor Rose there. There's also Woody's, BP's has a lounge in the area. Applebees has a drinking area as well. Whatever the Flight Deck got turned into is a drinking establishment. More than just the one spot there for drinking, within a 5 min drive.

due to a unfortunate encounter with a support beam in a parkade and a couple trips to some body shops to look for quotes, I think they've increased the amount to 2000 without a sticker, anything more requires said sticker.

True, I'll go around and look at the closing times for those places too. Tudor rose closed at 2am so it kinda lines up with when the neighbours said the hit and run happened.
Though if they were drunk enough to hit a parked car that badly... you wonder if they woulda been good to drive all the way from applebees

This same thing happened to me this winter. I was backing up in a residential area and wasn't paying attention. I backed into a van. It caused more damage than I thought it would have because I hit it on the side. Stupid move, but it was my first at-fault accident in almost 40 years. I went to the house and told the lady what had happened and gave her my contact info. It was late and dark. No one was around so I suppose I could have taken off. I sent her to a body shop where I know the people and paid the bill. I hope this low-life gets caught.

Same thing happened to me a couple months ago and only months after switching from full insurance to one way, so I was screwed for the damages.
Sucks because I usually always park in the driveway, but I had lots of people over and of course they took up all the spots so I was stuck on the road. Wake up in the morning and someone smashed by bumper and the side of my fender almost in the exact same spot as the SUV in the OP.
I hate low-lifes that just drive away.
Last winter someone hit my neighbors car at 5 in the morning and the girls tire popped and she called a tow truck to come pick up her car from in front of my house without notifying my neighbor that their car was hit. Luckily for my neighbor I was awake for work, I heard a loud noise and looked outside to see a girl on the phone outside her car so I thought something was fishy. Went outside and asked if she needed help. She said her tire just popped, but I noticed a little body damage as well, and took down her license plate just in case.
When she left I went around the corner to check what she hit and she side swiped my neighbors car and caused a lot of damage. I had to go to court, but I'm glad I caught that bitch.

I was in a parking lot at Mac's and saw a car backing out and scraped the car next to it putting a huge dent from the driver side to tail. Most ######ed thing I've ever seen in my life which was followed by a more ######ed thing by the car driving off. Lucky I got the license plate and car model. I was in High school at the time so I gave it to the school officer.
Turns out she didn't have her license and her parents were out of town so she took the car for a spin. ###### didn't know how to drive and would be in huge crap so she drove off...
I hope you find whoever did that. I don't know how people can hit cars and just run off. Simply ridiculous. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

How much do you save doing that? Barring incidents of course. I have long thought SGI should offer this as an option.
I had a hit n run years ago where the guy reported it the next day, leaving the scene was cheaper than an impaired, but at least he fessed up.
I am currently dealing with a hit and run, but am not very hopeful they will catch them as the only evidence were paint chips on the ground. Caved in the whole box side, must be some good damage on the other car.
Good luck..

The savings for me were about $1500 a year, and my truck is only worth like $7000 so I really didn't think that it made any sense to be paying $1500 to insure a $7000 vehicle.
Good luck finding them, but really the cops don't give a damn about hit and runs and will put no hours trying to find the culprit unless you have solid evidence they won't do any investigating.

That's considerable savings, mind you my truck, a 95 sonoma, costs slightly less than $700 a year, so I doubt they would be able to lower it by more than a couple hundred. It's worth about $3000.
I know quite a few cops in town and yes there is little that will be done, but they do route all the hit n runs to one guy, and they have been catching more these days. With the only evidence being a paint chip there isn't much to go on. Lucky for the OP there was a part left at the scene. That narrows it down quite a bit. Since mine happened at a drama festival where there were many out of town visitors, there is a good chance the offender isin't even around here though. I won't be holding my breath anyway.
To the OP, if a neighbor saw the color of the vehicle, they must have seen the incident, why didn't it get reported then? Odd that they wouldn't alert your friend that her vehicle had just been destroyed.
