Compared to the Republicans in the States, that is. Seriously, have you heard those wingnuts? It's unbelievable.

As for its origins, I think the quote is actually "Reality has a liberal bias" and I believe Colbert said it first.
What about the Democrats??

In a comparative sense and with the qualifier "seem" I think I can somewhat agree.

The Democrats are dumb for playing by the Republicans' rules and letting the Republicans move centre more to the right.

Compared to the States, it's true. Civilized discourse remains in Canada in a way that has almost gone extinct in the States.

They still try to engage in political discourse and lose all the time because of it.

The budget right now is a good example. The Republicans initially stated they wanted 61 billion in cuts. The Democrats got together discussed it and finally offered 36 million overall in cuts. The Republicans then took their initial offer off the table and now want the 61 million along with the EPA being severely cut and Planned Parenthood defunded. The Democrats try to be reasonable and compromise, the Republicans counter with a fist. This is how American Politics have worked for years.

no different than a deliberate Conservative bias in Alberta broadcasting. <i know i know that isnt state broadcasting>
As mentioned above if you look at past election results the country leans centre to centre left and that is reflected in its public station.

This isnt the 60s when you had 3 channels and you had faith in what the anchor provided for you was the whole truth. Today everyone on either side of the political spectrum need to be their own aggregators of information.

Somehow I dont think the 1960s broadcasters were any different than today...except for technology.
I remember a lot of tobacco and alcohol propoganda.

Yep and that left wing liberal commie rag, The Economist, agrees:

Both sides must shoulder some of the blame for the steadily worsening atmosphere on Capitol Hill. The Democrats have failed repeatedly, most recently with Mr Obama’s dishonest budget for the next fiscal year, to indicate how they intend to repair the nation’s finances. Yet even set against that miserable standard, it is the Republicans who deserve most criticism. While extracting many concessions from the Democrats, they have made precious few themselves. And while spinelessly failing to explain how the deficit might be controlled in the medium term, conservatives have vaingloriously demanded more cuts in the short term than should be inflicted on an economy as weak as America’s now is.
