I'd say between $125-150/week.
Most of that is Safeway/Save-On or the other local grocery store that sells President's choice stuff that we can stock up on cheaply, don't buy a ton of meat (and having cattle-raising inlaws never hurts), and we've started ordering organic fruit + veg online that gets delivered to the house every Friday.

For just me i am looking at about $100 per week with way to much eating out.
Every couple of weeks I like to entertain, this is obviously an added expense outside my $100 per week.

I am all for woman doing whatever makes them happy, but I also don't appreciate people who look down on woman who stay home and work 60_ hours a week making sure their kids are raised to be the next generation of productive kids, as opposed to those woman who work and have a Philippino nanny do their parenting for them.
Different strokes and all that, but it RGMG that running a family in the method that proved so effective for hundreds, neigh, thousands of years, is suddenly so "old school".
From my perspective, all that working woman has provided society is the rampant increase in the cost of living, so now for a family to be comfortable and middle class, both parents must be working. it's supply and demand and as far as I am concerned, all suffragettes did is screw me out of being able to sit on the couch and play with my kids if I was a stay at home dad.
Obviously I am intentionality hyperbolising my views, but I think it helps get the point across - If I was a woman, I'd be pissed that if I took a traditional role, I am suddenly marginalized. Plus with how expensive life is, how can I be the lazy couch stay at home dad I aspired to be ?!

I am "old school" myself. However, I now do the shopping, and many other household chores, as my wife is ill...probably from doing all the chores expected of women under the "old school" philosophy, and having a successful teaching career as well.
I was just pulling Fotze's leg, and don't want to hijack the thread.
My grocery bill is about $800. per month for the 2 of us.

$1200. Fruit kills the budget. This includes frozen lunches though too so my eat out bill is like $50/month.

Organic milk is so much tastier than Safeway crap. Safeway tastes like you are masterbating a cow udder with lamb watching.

Lucerne milk is total crap from hell.

Depends on the time of the year for us....in the winter when we dont have the farmers markets open around us it can hit $1100-1200 easily...too easily, sometimes more. In the late spring/summer/fall we can cut $200-300 or more off that using the markets.
Of course its the 2 money sucking teenagers that share our home that soak the groceries up like theres no tomorrow.

What on earth are you buying to spend that much money? And how many are in your family?
Just 2 of us here, we spend about $600 and we eat well, VERY well.

Pretty cheap if you shop here like me:
I love the Costco crack. So true. Yet I still love that place.

When I was a starving student I would go to Super Store for Kraft Dinner and other items that were identical at all the stores, but were cheaper here. I'd then head over to Safeway for all meat, produce and dairy. Even though those items were higher priced at Safeway, it was still worth it as the quality was/is far superior.
Now that I have a job and I don't need to watch every penny, I don't mind doing all of my shopping at Safeway. It's a little higher price point, but the produce is fresher, the beef is better and they carry Lucerne, Dairyland and Avalon dairy products. Sometimes I go to my favourite butcher for beef, but they are out of the way.
For two of us I spend about $100 each week at grocery stores. We eat dinner at home Sunday-Thursday and sometimes Saturday, while dining out every Friday. I bring my lunch to work each day and she brings one 1-3 times a week. We usually go out to eat lunch Saturday and Sunday and are not big breakfast people.

Wow! People spend way more per month than I would have expected. My husband and I spend about $300/month. We eat quite healthy - little pre-packaged food etc. We shop at a combination of Wal-Mart, Costco, and Superstore (only for quick trips for milk, etc.).

Me and the wife spend anywhere from 100-150 a week, pretty much always at extra foods (a small version of superstore).
