I am currently going through extended family problems as well but have chosen to remove myself from the equation, so I offer this advice as sincerely as possible.
You only have one family, love them or hate them, that's what you've been given. You either love and accept them (good and bad) and realize the little things (pvr) are inconsequential in the long run, or you forget about them and everything to do with them.
Focus on relationships. Use your energy on strengthening ones you do care about and not on people who don't deserve it.

PVR is gone- so forget about it.
You can either just leave things alone and allow the rift to grow; or be the bigger person and say you are sorry that something so small got between family, and make a point doing something to include your aunt in your own family functions.
My one grandmother died with next to nothing to her name; she was a simple lady with simple needs; and was always happy. I didn't attend the cleaning out of her apartment; and I'm glad I didn't. Turns out there were fights over everything; including stuff she told my dad and uncles was for me. (I got a frantic call from my sister.) I said just let it go.
My one uncle and his family haven't spoken to any of us since; which is pretty sad.

Of course. She's gonna be gone one day as well, and worrying about some piece of electronics is gonna look awful silly.

We had a similiar problem with one side of our family hoarding all the good stuff for themselves plus over drawing money from my grandparents account. We as a family have just shrugged it off, let them live with there selfish way's. This is where you hope there is such a thing as bad karma.

Hire a guy to meet your Aunt 'unexpectedly', and then have him ask for her number. Then have him take your aunt out for a nice seafood dinner and never call her again!

It would have been funnier if he drugged her and she ended up on a plane to bolivia with no money in her pockets.

Being a single child must rock for reasons like this...
I cant imagine what would happen with most families.

Selfish family members are the worst. If I were you I'd just let the stupid pvr go and just ignore your aunt going forward.
It's the easiest solution.

If you aren't willing to give up on the PVR because you don't care about a rift between you and her, consider one other thing. She may be the executor of your Grandma's will as well.

Walk away. HD-PVR isn't worth the battle. I know it could be the principle of thing, but there probably will be other battles to fight and more important ones.

Next time you're over there, set the PVR to record endless amounts of paid-programming.

I've never understood this pettiness. Fights over properties and large fortunes, I can get. People fighting over small possessions, however, baffles me.
If my parents died, I can not think of a single possession they own that would be worth starting a fight over. If major assets were not divided properly, I'd obviously assert my rights, but the rest of the junk goes to whoever puts the time into dealing with it. I think this may be your aunt's thinking. If she was the one in charge of cleaning out the house, that is a massive job. Maybe now that she's completed the work, she resents you swooping in and keeping the best stuff.

Are you kidding this is for an HD PVR have you tried watching SD tv lately? This is a life changing object!
What does the will say? I think the best way to do it is sell everything and split equally down the middle. I am hoping if I ever go through this there will be a very simple solution like splitting everything equaly since I have a large family it has the potential to get messy
