Is part of it to reduce the sun shining right in your eyes at sunrise and sunset, during rush hour?

It's all because of stupid farmers and their cows, which are almost as stupid.

EDIT: Looks like I'm wrong on this. Oh well. **** farmers anyway.

Everyone should read this Nat Geo article. It's not necessarily exhaustive, but it's informative and really interesting.

And for the record Ben Franklin can suck a lemon. He shoulda kept playing out in the lightning.

I read somewhere that the number of people with Seasonal Affective Disorder this year is a lot higher than normal this year due to our extended crappy winter and lack of summer before.

I know its been bugging a lot of people.

Hmm.. what happens to a child that is born at exactly 2AM? Is his/her time of birth recorded as 3AM? Guess so, huh.

I have never been officially diagnosed with it, but my family doctor is convinced, especially after this year that I am affected by it. This last couple of months has been very hard on my psyche. It isn't as much depression, as irratibility and annoyance I feel.

Like I seriously hate everything around me when I get up in the morning, and look outside. It's a feeling of f'you world. Once the sun is shining and the weather warms up, I feel like a new man.

The only thing worse than daylight savings plan is the number of people that b*tch and complain about it constantly.

Sounds like what a lot of people i know are going through, its not exactly depression, its just annoyance that things are staying the same too, they just arnt getting better. Its the same short fuse sort of stuff.

Hopefully we start seeing some spring and things look up.

Well perhaps society should take notice and realize that DST is a stupid idea and get rid of it. Saskatchewan was smart enough to ignore it, so should we. How China is ahead of us on this boggles me...

DST is one of those early 20th century bull#### ideas that belong on the shelf with female hysteria, craniometry and social darwinism.

Damn I need a coffee.

I've always wondered about shift workers on the clock during a DST shift... do they get shafted or paid a free hour?

I do shift work, we treat both daylight savings days as regular shifts. Usually it is the same person working both the spring forward and the fall back, so it evens out.

Work as a firefighter, there's no change in our paycheques.

I guess they figure it evens out in the end.

I love DST, what a great concept! An extra hour of evening light in the summer is fantastic. I don't understand how this can actually upset people? Think of all the extra hours one can be outside playing! Brilliant!
