Prescription drug residue and farm runoff aren't good for the watershed, but that's not the reason people in 3rd world countries have to carry water on their back for an hour, and it's not the reason parts of the US have run out of water.

I'm not saying those things are good, but they aren't the cause of water shortages. Their negative consequences tend to be for aquatic life (fish, increased algae, lower oxygen levels in rivers, etc)

We won't run out of water, because we never actually destroy it or "use it up." It might get more expensive to get the non-water stuff (whether that's sea salt, roundup, or birth control pills) out of the water, but there are still plenty of H20 molecules around.

As more and more people populate the world, we will run into into more problems like this. It's no surprise to me and I am thankful I live in this country.
