whatever, I'm immature. I lol'd.

Fall 2009 I met Freddy Sjsostrom and Brian McGrattan at a signing. Not so much embarrassing as it was eye-opening. They were both very stand-offish and seemed dang near rude to everyone who was getting something signed. Anyways, they signed my hat and now all I can think is...

...they sullied my hat with their signatures.

I was in toys r us at market mall in the electronic section with my buddy. They had NHL 08 on the xbox so my buddy and I started playing it. I was the flames of course and looked over at a guy while playing and it was Tony Amonte. I told my friend "Holy crap, there is Tony Amonte" but my friend wouldn't believe me. We kept playing and I scored a goal with him and it showed his face on the screen (the real picture not the graphics). He was literally right beside the monitor while his picture was up on the screen. Not really embarrassing but a good story I guess.

i was waiting outside for autos last season and this dude drives up in his car and stops for us who were waiting and no one knew who he was. he was just signing away and this girl is like "...who are you?" i wanted to cry for the poor guy. So i was like "haha it's aaron johnson!" and he smiled and was like "yes" and kept signing. before he drove away i yelled "sorry no one knew who you were..." and he was like "it's okay!"

i think he got traded the week after lol

I drank with Colby Armstrong in Saskatoon at the Scuzz. Girls were draped all over him and he was wasted and we just BSed about hockey and how crappy hockey was in Atlanta.

I played hockey against Leland Irvings brother this weekend. Scored a goal on him and ran him to get him off his game. (I know I know, he isn't an NHL player).

That's all I got, my life is boring.

During the lockout Barrett Jackman was in the Quad Cities playing for the River Otters. Well he was behind me in the ATM line and I leaned over to my fiance and told her who he was. With out even thinking she looks at him and says "He's tiny, I'm sure he gets picked on a lot" He just stared at me and I rushed out of the line.

I had to pay for Anders's soda when he was sent down because that turd didn't have enough cash.

I've met a ton of hockey players when I used to work at the dome. But the one that still puts a smile to my face is when I actually served Craig Conroy Vanilla Ice cream when I started working at Flames Central about 3-4 years ago. The Flames would always come to FC after every home game during the first year we were opened, but I believe they stopped hanging out there nowadays.

He came in all alone after the Flames game one night and ordered ice cream as we were about to close up. I was a little bit annoyed because I got my ass handed to me on station that night and didn't want to deal with another order and thought who the **** would come in 5 minutes before the place closed and order just desserts.

Anyways, after he finished his ice cream, he came down and thanked me personally. He's such an awesome guy to be around. I am glad he's still with the Flames.

Looks like it. I met Cory Sarich once briefly. Seemed like a nice guy.

He was even at my outdoor rink this past Sat afternoon playing hockey.

Or so I was told. He was gone by the time I showed up for work.

Not really embarassing, but I had encounter with Iggy at Eau Claire years ago (I think '98).

I was there with a friend when he recognized Iggy, so we went up to him and asked for autographs. I remember his now wife was begging him not to bother because she wanted to leave, and his response was "No, I'm signing an autograph for these kids". Since then he's been my favourite player.

Not embarrasing but a dece story:

The summer Cammalerri got traded to Calgary me and a buddy were walking downtown and some car pulls up beside us and asks us how to get to the saddledome, so we give him directions.

He then leaves, thanks us for the help and we keep on walking. As soon as he left we were like "Was that cammalleri!?" Haha didnt really clue in it was him until after. To be fair he hadnt played a game as a Flame yet so we werent extrememly familiar with his face.

Nice guy tho, cool meeting him.

Saw Backlund at hifi last wednesday
My buddy went up to him and was like "Hey you're Mikael Backlund"
Backlund looks at him and is like
"Nope" and walks away.

I went up too him later and told him "Nice goal the other night" gave him a fist pump and he said "Thanks"

my mom loves to tell the story she was at eatons in winnipeg back in the day. she ran into a black guy that was dressed very well and seemed to be catching everyones attention. she walked up to him and asked 'are you a somebody?' the man laughed and said yes, and signed something for me and my brother. i honestly forget what he signed, at the time i was quite young.. 8 or 9. turns out it was rod hill. rod hill is still one of my favourite bombers of all time. the1980's winnipeg defence is arguably the greatest in cfl history, with names like greg battle, james west, and rod hill. what great memories i had as a kid going to the games... everything seemed larger than life back then.

So your story is embarrassing because you thought meeting a CFL player, a Winnepeg Blue Bomber at that, is a big deal right?

When I think of embarrassing I tend to think of the Saskatchewan Rough Rider's, actually. Nothing says 100 years of excellence like 3 championships in an 8 team league

I was at a party once and Mike Vernon was way more wasted than I was, which was pretty wasted.

I gave Lanny the finger at the 4 way stop at 50th ave and 20th st. as he seemed to think he was to good to wait for his turn and jumped to the front of the line.

Jim Peplinki bought us some Canadians at the Highlander when he was a Molson rep.

none of these mgiht be embarassing but,,,whatev.

I've met several NHL players over the years, even had a couple as neighbors

Although it has been awhile since I spoke to either of them, I grew up with Mike Green and TJ Galiardi. I never actually played with either (age differences) in minor hockey but had relatives and friends that did.

No really interesting stories tho.

Back around 11 years ago when I lived in Denver I used to play a little beer league hockey a couple nights a week. I had a Swedish room mate that invited me out for beers one night in Washington park. So I am there for a while getting a little ripped. I decided to buy my buddy a beer. So I get the beer and go over to the group of people he is talking to. I hand him the beer and he introduces me to the friend standing by him named Peter. I shake his hand and say high. My buddy goes Peter plays hockey and I say that is cool peter I play hockey too. My buddy then says his last name is Forsberg.

Now the Aves had been on a huge winning streak at that time something like 14 games and the night before the Flames broke it so in my drunken state I started giving him crap about the Flames breaking their winning streak. He just said no worries those things happen and just walked away. I felt like a complete idiot the next morning.

Lanny McDonald was doing an autograph signing to mark the grand opening of the new Futureshop in Lethbridge.

Waiting in line, chatting it up with other fans. Finally, it's my turn. I talk to him briefly, shake his hand, check out his ring. He asked me if I wanted him to sign my jersey. It was at that moment I realized I was wearing my Regehr jersey, and I don't know what the protocol is with getting autographs from the wrong player on a name jersey.

"Uh, no thanks! I'm saving this for Regehr."
"You're a fan of Robyn, huh?"
"Yes."
*awkward silence*
"Will you sign my hat?"

He was so nice, and so obliging. I truly felt stupid, though, denying a hockey legend from signing my jersey.

Another time, my sister was at some bar, and she texts me:

"Some Flames players are here."
"WHO?!?!?!?!?!?"
"I dunno."
"GET PICTURES WITH THEM"
"Ok"

Time goes by.

"They said they aren't allowed to take pictures. But then, I told them the picture was for my brother, and they let me take pictures with them."

From that point, I found it kind of creepy that Boyd and Nystrom wouldn't get a picture with my sister, until they found out the picture was for me.

Pretty sure this is a FOI thread.

I think we've all read your diatribes before. No need to infect this forum.
