It's an "Own lane" sign and you're suppose to flip off the idiot who yielded/slowed down in front of you, right?

If I see someone do that in front of me, man do l lay on the horn. In fact, even if l'm driving right by the merge and l see someone stopped, l still honk.

I lay the horn on the mofo's who do that. As someone mentioned, it goes almost past the zoo exit, there's absolutely no need to stop on top of the exit to try to merge onto Memorial.

I wait for the opportunity to do that too. Although I got a little trigger happy on the horn one time, and gave it to a guy that was stopped for a pedestrian that I didn't see.
My bad. now I double check for people in crosswalks before unleashing my uncontrollable non yield lane road rage.

On an unrelated story, I had some doofus lay the horn on me when I was stopped at a "do not turn right on a red" intersection. I had to not so kindly step out of vehicle and point the sign out to the guy. I guess the "ah, crap, I'm an idiot" look he gave me afterwards kind of made up for it though.

Yeah I felt shame. I made myself feel better by blaming the pedestrian, even though THAT was probably the wrong thing to do as well........

Exiting from westbound Glenmore Trail to northbound MacLeod Trail in front of the A&W. That lane doesn't end until it turns into 60 Ave SW. For the love of God people, if you can't make it over to get in the mall then take 60 Ave SW, then hang a right on 3 St SW, then a right on 60 Ave SW and OMFG you're heading straight into the Chinook parking lot!!! And furthermore, you will likely get there sooner than waiting for three lights in the massively backed up left turn from Macleod!

Also how about the idiots who stop way too far back from the intersection on a red light and doesnt' trigger the sensor.
One time i missed 4 turning lights because both drivers were well back of the sensor. I finally got out of my car and ran past 5 cars to the front to tell them to move up. Can't believe the cars in front of me didn't honk.

Ah, no worries. We all make mistakes. I had a drunk friend in the passenger side who reached over and honked my horn at a guy stopped at a red. He thought the light was green, but it was only the turning light that was green. I was lucky the guy was not some road rager, or we might have been in a bit of trouble. On the next intersection, I rolled down the window and apologized.

What about pulling into an intersection while it's green waiting to turn left? I've been behind people who don't pull into the intersection, and because of traffic volume, never make the left turn. I sat for three lights before they got a chance to get through. I laid on the horn after the second light and I got the finger in response. I think some provinces teach that you're not supposed to pull into the intersection?

I know for sure BC, AB, ON and QC people all do it, and since the masses do it, I suspect they are taught to do it there.

I thought they teach you to pull into the intersection, but to make sure your wheel is pointed straight and not turned. That way if by chance you're rear ended, your car goes forward rather than into oncoming traffic.

Yeah, that's what I do. Pull into the intersection with wheels straight ahead. The person I was behind stayed behind the crosswalk/stop line for three lights though, so there was no chance to advance on the amber lights.
At every light there should be 1 or 2 cars that can make it through at least.

To be fair, this is a really poor turn. Very tight, no sight distance available because they had to make the corner before the bridge structure starts, the bridge barrier is quite tall, and that exit is probably the highest frequency rate of travel for people unfamiliar with the city (ie. suits renting a car at the airport to drive downtown).
I don't use that exit often, but there are times where I slow down more than needed because I simply can't see around the corner well.

Yeah, I've had this happen a few times too. Once traffic was backed up almost 2 blocks on 34th Ave at 69th St SW before I finally had my wife get out of my car, run up to the front car, and tell him he needed to move up to get the light to change. Though sometimes the problem is poor installation - there are intersections where the sensor is at least partially past the stop line. I remember reading in the paper a couple of years ago about a guy who got ticketed for running a red light because the sensor was too far forward and he had to cross the stop line to get the light to change.

This JUST happened a few hours ago - right in front of me there was a pretty forceful rear end accident because someone slammed on their brakes at one of these signs instead of just carrying on in the lane. It's still the person behind's fault because they were following much too close in pretty slippery conditions, but it was still very irritating to see.

Heck, when I'm the oncoming traffic waiting for the light to turn green, I totally understand if a guy runs part of the red to make the left turn. I think that's controlled aggressive driving. It needs to be done in order to alleviate some of the rush hour driving IMO.

Why can't we do that here? Our shoulders are pretty damn wide too with all the space we have.

I swear it's a local phenomenon to rubberneck the way Calgarians do. Ever watch those ridiculous cop chase shows? the people in LA don't even give a crap if they're driving beside the perp. They just keep going. Of course, I did mention that before, and Ice swears that that's just not the case, but I saw it on TV so it must be true.
What's definitely true is how they just don't give a crap in Rome. Just like you said about China, people will go around the accident without even batting an eyelash. No shoulder? No problem. They'll use the sidewalk.

Kind of looks like a pair of pants with 1 straight leg and one slightly bent one. Haha. It's kind of funny they even have a sign for this.. I mean everyone's lane continues! It's kind of like saying 'hey!! everything's ok keep driving!'
