Sure, that's what the UV light is revealing.

In all, there were five kinds of skin bacteria in the jeans, and mostly in the crotch area, where between 8,500 and 10,000 bacterial units per square centimetre were found.

So what's with the triple-bagging them? Is he just practicing for when he gets an Edmonton woman? Or is there some reason to do that before putting them in the freezer?

I actually did almost 18 months with a pair of Nudies. They were gross and I had to get the crotch replaced, but they turned out beautifully after I washed them. I'm in the process of doing it again. I'll keep you posted, friends.

now the real question, why the hell do you know so much about jeans huh? I don't wash my jeans very often because they don't stink, that's all I need to know.

Nick, you were 85 lbs overweight living in a hot climate and you didn't wash your jeans very often ? I'm surprised you could find designer, or any jeans to fit.
I'm honestly not trying to offend anyone.

Well I honestly dont know how to respond to this but if you would have read, I started buying more designer jeans once I lost the weight. I did have a ton of fat jeans but they werent necessarily of designer status. I did wash those when they stunk.
Oh and hot climate is an awesome idea since we have have been in the teens on the American Fahrenheit scale here for the past week or so ...

When I took my Nudies in, to have the crotch repaired, the ladies said they get like 5 pairs a week for the same repair.

I wish I could find a pair of selvege nudies in calgary. anyone know where to find them? i've only been able to find the dry broken twill.
I'm on month 9 of my nudies, had to get the crotch reinforced once, but it's got some good wear on it now. It fits like a glove!
I wore it almost everyday for about 8 months, and I picked up a pair of selvege Naked and Famous jeans for christmas. a bit cheaper than nudies but i like the look of nudies more. Naked and Famous did have a style called "elephant denim" something like 18oz denim! felt like cardboard!
I'm gonna try to stretch it to 12 months before I wash. I don't wear them everyday anymore though since I'm trying to break in my N&F's

85lbs overweight doesn't quite breach the barrier between having clothes that fit and hanging out of them like some sort of gelatinous cube.
Trust me, I speak from experience.

I say 6 months is the minimum for raw denim, not really a story here.
The funny thing about the story that many are missing, is that the real "newsworthy" part of the story is the lab testing and lack of additional bacteria, not the 15 months without washing part.
That happens all the time with pretty much anyone who buys raw denim (which is a lot of people) and they don't make the news.

I don't think you can find selvage Nudies in Calgary, you can go through the website but they stick you with shipping charges. Naked & Famous are awesome quality, I think made in Canada too.
For selvage, try APCs. They're cheaper than nudies, better quality denim, and a bit heavier so the fading will become more apparent after washing. Hope this helps.

I've never heard of any of the jeans or these other strange rituals in this thread, just sayin.
I can't imagine taking jeans in to get a rotten crotch replaced.

On the topic of repairing Nudies:
If you need to repair them, and you're looking for the right colored thread and extra material, you can email them, and they'll send it.
It only took me 4 months to get it...

Anyone know places in Calgary that sell APCs? I've wanted to check them out for a while.
