Just wait for the price to drop a few months to a year later. Simple as that. Can probably get the Entire Collection for $60 new at the right time/place of the year.

No way would I pay $100+ for 2 great movies (Star Wars/Empire), 1 very good movie (Jedi), 1 average movie (Sith), 1 mediocre movie (Clones), and 1 abomination (Menace). Here's hoping they go all out on the commentaries though.

Anyone who orders the prequels should receive the original trilogy plus a punch in the face.

Wow. For what a huge fan of the originals I was, I'm actually surprised at how little I care about these being released again.

The last good release was the laser discs.

hopefully lucas takes all of the money and gives it to lucasarts so we can get some good games from that developer again.

like xwing and tie fighter remakes on the current gaming platforms.

I'm lame. I bought it from Amazon. Had to be done. The prequel films will be covered by an inordinate amount of dust. Guaranteed.

I treat Star Wars the same way I treat the Matrix. Star Wars is a trilogy and only one Matrix movie was ever made.

I will never ever buy the "special addition" no matter what format it is released on.

I have a DVD set made from the original laser disc rips and have accepted the fast that they're the best quality I'll likely ever be able to get.

I thought those were released on DVD with one of the re-releases? Or was it that the "original, unedited" copies on DVD were still monkeyed with, because Star Wars had Episode IV in the crawl? I forget the minutia about it.

Both of these. The prequels were god-awful.

If only they could cut the Ewoks out of ROTJ then the original trilogy would be decent. As is, I can't really enjoy the film anymore once I grew out of my childhood sense of wonder and innocence. They are just midgets dressed as furries and terribly annoying to boot. A portent of things to come (Jar Jar).

They did get rid of the song at the end of ROTJ though, which is good.

But they did this:

Seriously, Lucas needs full time supervision.

If Lucas lives long enough, he'll make so many changes to the film that it will bear almost no resemblance to the original.

I'd love to get these on bluray but Lucas has confirmed a remastered version of the originals will never see the light of day.

Even the special editions from the 90s are really just #######ized versions of a beloved and amazing trilogy.

My name is George Lucas. I am a writer, director, and producer of motion pictures and Chairman of the Board of Lucasfilm Ltd., a multi-faceted entertainment corporation.

I am not here today as a writer-director, or as a producer, or as the chairman of a corporation. I've come as a citizen of what I believe to be a great society that is in need of a moral anchor to help define and protect its intellectual and cultural heritage. It is not being protected.

The destruction of our film heritage, which is the focus of concern today, is only the tip of the iceberg. American law does not protect our painters, sculptors, recording artists, authors, or filmmakers from having their lifework distorted, and their reputation ruined.

If something is not done now to clearly state the moral rights of artists, current and future technologies will alter, mutilate, and destroy for future generations the subtle human truths and highest human feeling that talented individuals within our society have created.

I've got DVD's of the unaltered trilogy and live in constant fear of Lucas storming my home and taking them from me.

So, that old quote was primarily about the non-copyright holder's colorizing films. He wouldn't have said **** if it was the copyright holder who was updating the work. As he's clearly shown he has no problem doing that himself, despite outcry from those who appreciate his work the most.

But yeah, it's like ray-ee-ayne on your wedding day.
