Not a very good year for me and the missus. There were a couple bright points, but a lot of downer times. The last few months, since mid-Oct, have really been rough. Glad to see this one go. Bring on 2011.

It was an eventful year. My son was born in February two days before Canada won the gold. I than lost my job in June, and there isn't much in my line of work for jobs out there....so I ended up having to take one in Edmonton and move back to St.Albert. Within that we bought a house, and vehicle. From where my life was 12 months ago, to where it is today, it's pretty different.
But despite some rough patches, it's a great year because I wouldn't trade my son for anything in this world. He's the greatest thing I've ever had.
I should add that I became an Uncle, than was a bit nervous when my 5 month old nephew had to have open heart surgery in November. But he's recovered well and is doing awesome now. I tell you as a parent of a young one myself, that would have been a terrifying time.

I lost my Dad in 2000 and still miss him. We used to play a lot of golf together. It will get easier as time goes on. Cherish the memories you have of him - i'm sure that's what he would have wanted

Definitely one of the best in a long time. After several months of unemployment, I found a job that is a perfect fit and somewhere that even in my short time I feel I've accomplished alot in and will have the opportunity to use my strengths. For the first time in years, my life isn't all about work, I actually have that work/life balance. I also had the opportunity to go to alot of concerts, meet some bands, catch up with old friends and make many new ones and accomplish alot of personal goals that I previously was held back from (be it by my own doing or by others).
I think 2010 was the first year in a long time that I actually lived my life the way I wanted to and grew as a person because of it. I cannot wait to see what 2011 holds.

Freaking awful. I'm not even a pessimist but I have nothing good to say about 2010, it sucked hard.

2010 was better than 2009. I accomplished a few items that I've been procrastinating about over the years. I started volunteering and easily completed over 100 hours. And I'm starting 2011 with a lot of time and money going towards improving myself, so here's hoping for a banner year!

You know come to think of it I lost both my parents in the last 8 years and it's been a downhill spiral ever since...time to get over it and just think of the good things they taught me and the great memories.
Look out 2011.

Nothing ever prepares you for the loss of a parent. What helped me was reading the book..."Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. The book changed the way I view life and death. You might want to get a copy if you haven't read it already

Perhaps it was one of the defining and most important years of my life because it gave me the idea for which I know how I'll live the next few years.

Pretty happy to see 2010 go away. The first half was awesome, but things went downhill fast.
Lost my job, girlfriend left me, car hit and run 3 times and broken into once, dad had to go to hospital, have a crappy neighbour since I moved to my new place (duplex).
Oh who cares about all that crap. My friends are still my friends and my dog still loves me. 2010 was just like any other year.

It was eventful, some good and bad in 2010.
Highlights for me was graduating from SAIT and landing a job almost a week after, rekindled some old friendships that were starting to burn out.
One downside was having a relationship starting that never caught fire, hopefully that will change this year.

2010 sucked. Lost my dog right during finals, which compounded how awful my year was. Chased a girl for months, finally got her, only to find out she was hooking up with her ex, of course this was also right around the time I lost my dog.
Combine that with the fact that I'm back at the UofC, a school I genuinely despise and that I've had several injuries to my shoulder, and both knees, which has kept me away from training for kickboxing.
Yea, screw you 2010, 2011 better be a good year.

Woah... rough. I'm sure this year can't get much worse though, so only one way to look.

2010 was a great year for me on a personal level. Finished off grad school and got my ideal job despite a still tough economy, and the scarcity of positions in my field. I never worked harder in my life than for the job I got, so it was a great feeling to get what I worked for. My climbing took a notch up and I got to go outdoors almost every weekend, everything from alpine climbing to bouldering and everything in between. I took a few months off from soccer, and my ankles finally healed. I finally started to settle in as a Californian after moving here a few years ago, and found some great friends that I now live with. Also picked up surfing and canyoneering, which I hope to carry through in 2011. I finished off the year with a pair of trips to New York and Hong Kong, a new car and motorcycle, tons of Chirstmas parties before leaving Cali, and rung in the new year with all my best friends from my undergrad skiing.
Of coarse, there were some oddities. My friend that went missing earlier this year went through a weird series of events and died. For the first half of the year, I studied harder than I ever thought I could and there were times when I didn't think I'd get a job. I made it through the year without a girlfriend for the first time in a long time (Thank you Man Jose) and I learned to enjoy life without always needing or searching for a girlfriend. I dodged death more times than I should have, including big climbing falls, lightning, highway accidents from rock falls, hypothermia boiling weather and drowning in a desert, etc etc. I rented a room from a creepy family that I thought might kill me in my sleep every night, and the day I wanted to give my 1 month notice to vacate they had a late miscarriage.
Sufficed to say, 2010 was turbulent, but 2011 looks a lot more clear and smooth sailing.

2010 was a pretty awesome for me.........
-First of all bought a house in May, nothing like owning your own place in the area you always wanted to live
-completed my first period of school for millwright at NAIT, good experience for me, expecially cause my work is paying me to go
-obviously the olympics
-me and the wife made it 2 years together married, a big step i think
-2 vacations, one for fun in dominican and one to visit family in Nova Scotia
couple downers
-lost our yorkie when he decided to chase a car
-my beloved Civic fell victim to a deer that appeared out of nowhere, still driving it but looks like a pile of junk, I think 2011 will be the last for my first and only car

2010 was very similar for me in most respects to 2009 except my financial picture is much more stable vis a vi cash in the bank, emergency funds, no debts other than mortgage etc. I have kept my spending in check after finally finishing Dave Ramseys books about money and as such I have purchased much less tech gadgets this year.
On the personal side of things it was a mixed bag. Still not married, I am dating someone but dont see that lasting long into 2011. My resolution this year is to try to truthfully evaluate the women I have dated over the last 7 years and see what has gone wrong for only 2 of them to have lasted longer than 6 months (13 and 15 months respectively). The reasons they ended were straightforward enough, 1 was I think my perfect match but didnt want to have kids and I did and I concluded that I didnt believe I could ever change her mind about that and the second was fantastic except for 1 fatefull dinner with her parents where her dad for some reason went on a rant against me that can only be described as odd where her and her mother just sat there in silence while he went on and on and on and she didnt say one thing to defend me. Normally I could care less what the parents think of me (most from what I can tell love me) but the fact that she just sat there and let him do that without saying one word was just unacceptable for me. The weird thing is she constantly calls me to try to get back together. After hitting 30 I am finding that the want to get married and start a family has started to weigh on me much more heavily than it did before. Hopefully not too late although 30 is difficult age to be single, its difficult to find single women in the age range who dont have some sort of baggage.
On the work side of things its fairly stable. I will try to finish the last to Microsoft certification exams I have left (I dont need them for work but if they are willing to pay for them if I pass I figure its something that will be great on a resume if I ever have to find employment elsewhere).

Mixed bag here...
I lost about 70 lbs. and am in the best shape of my life although I still have a ways to go and P90X is my 2011 resolution.
My dog died in June, the same day my dad was flying out for a visit. The dog was 13 1/2 and I got him for my wife as a birthday present for her a few months after we started dating. As weird as it may sound he was always kind of the yardstick of our relationship and his loss still affects us.
Financially, I got a decent raise, but my financial situation really hits home that I'm going to need to strike out on my own fairly soon and I am laying plans in that regard.
Happy New Year all...

Got a kid, lost a job, laughed at the Double Rainbow guy.
I think that was my year.
