If Washnington plays anything like they did against Chicago, then the Flames are toast tonight. If however they aren't up to snuff, then I think the Flames can squeeze out a win, but only if they're potting goals.

persoanlly, i am a little dissapointed they are playing monahan tonight - his 9 games should be played exclusively at home, so we (the experts) can assess his play and then tell feaster and friends what to do with him.
the above aside, tonights game is not only a critical game interms of the flames getting out of the blocks and making a run for a playoff spot, it also represents a potential stanley cup finals preview.

3-1 Flames. Ramo stands out.

Yes. Hartley wants him to get more practice with the team. I believe Ben Street will be playing tonight instead of Colborne.

Rude awakening awaits tonight. I am seeing a 7-2 loss for the Flames. The D will be severely tested by Ovechkin and company.

Will be a so so night. Lots of energy but timing of passes will be off, and some defensive coverage will be shaky at times. Ramo will be tested and we'll see how he reacts. A few hard earned goals from Stajan, Glencross, and Bouma, but lose 5-3.

I don't even care if we're supposed to suck. 4-3 Flames win tonight to kick off a 9 game winning streak that turns the hockey world on its ear.
Go Flames Go!

An entertaining game 3 - 2 Washington with the Empty Netter. Monahan out there as the extra man getting experience.
Monahan with 1 assist.
Ramo .929 Save Percentage.
Overall good effort by the good guys but Washington was better with talent.

If we give up 42 shots that won't be a good strart.

I've missed hockey. I'm definitely looking forward to catching a period or two and how this new crew performs. One thing is clear- expectations are low. That's a good thing. I'll be happy with just a few great plays or even a glimpse of brilliance. A win would be icing on the cake

Jay Feaster:
You know, a town with money's a little like the mule with the spinning wheel. No one knows how he got it and danged if he knows how to use it.
Bob Hartley:
Heh-heh, mule.
Jay Feaster:
The name's Feaster, Jay Feaster. And I come before you good people tonight with an idea. Probably the greatest—Aw, it's not for you. It's more a Winnipeg idea.
Mayor Nenshi:
Now, wait just a minute. We're twice as smart as the people of Winnipeg. Just tell us your idea and we'll vote for it.
Jay Feaster:
All right. I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll show you my idea. I give you the Calgary Monahan!
(everyone gasps)
I've sold Monahans to Brockway, Ogdenville, and North Battleford, and, by gum, it put them on the map!
Well, sir, there's nothin' on earth like a genuine bona-fide electrified six-two Monahan! What'd I say?
Stephen Harper:
Monahan!
Jay Feaster:
What's it called?
Murray Edwards:
Monahan.
Jay Feaster:
That's right!
Monahan!
Cast:
Monahan...monahan...monahan... (continue over the following lyrics)
Alison Redford:
I hear those things are awfully loud.
Jay Feaster:
It glides as softly as a cloud.
Ken King:
Is there a chance the track could bend?
Jay Feaster:
Not on your life, my President friend.
Fotze:
What about us brain-dead slobs?
Jay Feaster:
You'll be given cushy jobs.
Lanny McDonald:
Were you sent here by the devil?
Jay Feaster:
No, good sir, I'm on the level.
Police Chief Hanson:
The ring came off my pudding can.
Jay Feaster;
Take my pen knife, my good man.
I swear, it's Calgary's only choice!
Throw up your hands and raise your voice!
All:
Monahan...
Jay Feaster:
What's it called?
Monahan...
Once again!
MONAHAN!
Colley-Urquhart:
But McLeod Trail's still all cracked and broken.
Alderman Carra:
Sorry, "Mom", the mob has spoken!
All:
Monahan...
Monahan!!!!!!!!!
MONAHAN!!
MONAHAN!!!!!
Hartley:
Mona—D'oh!

In all honesty with the expectations most have of the Flames, this is one of the most up-beat GDT's theres been in a long time!
Awesome CP! Hockey is fun again!!!!

Not real excited about our defence to be honest. I do like what we are developing....
However Gio as displayed last year is not a first pairing defencemen. Tries to do too much when handed those minutes. Wideman really isn't known for his stellar defensive zone coverage. Russel really.... Coupled with SOB and Butler as the third pairing.
I'm sorry but I see a ton of shots and Ramo will be earning his paycheck.

I agree with this. Just give us a glimpse of our future. A big effort will help salve a lose as well. The worst thing about the last three years was watching them float on the odd night and seeing the big names phone in their efforts.

Technically, it would be 43 SOG, since he said there would be an empty net goal afterwards.
(yes I also did the math - [ducks])
