I kind of feel bad for Rory Kerins as it seems he has been a complete afterthought for this organization since turning pro.
That's back to back years the organization hasn't even allowed him the chance to skate in a preseason game despite being sixth in scoring on the AHL team, and signed to an ELC. He was also scratched in the playoffs in favor of players with zero future with the organization. Must be frustrating for the kid.
He only had himself to blame for being scratched. He came to the AHL on an absolute tear, petting up a PPG for the first ~20 games and then he just wasn't as effective. I don't think that he became an afterthought, as much as the grind of a season got to him. There could also have been nagging injuries in that time of the year, that made Sutter(C), Jones, Bishop(A), or McLain better options.
I think it's somewhat similar to the Duehr situation with the Flames. It's up to him to prove that he can still be effective.
Location: F*** me. We're so f***ing good, you check the f***ing standings? Lets f***ing go! F***ing practice!

Could definitely be the reason. In a Huska interview yesterday he was asked for a list of players that didnt report in shape. At first he said something to the effect of everyone comes in shape these days and then corrected himself and said he could name names but didnt.

Kerins situation does seem strange.
Wasn't that a bit of a lighthearted dig at the media?
I also think with Kerins there are issues away from the puck and in the defensive end that they really wanted him to focus on and just weren't seeing much improvement.
I kind of hope he figures out some of that in year 3 as a pro this year though, because there is a lot of talent there and if they could figure out the other stuff they'd probably have a player.

I agree. Would be nice to see him get a game at least. Signed him to an ELC for a reason and he outperformed both Kirkland and Schwindt by the numbers last year in the AHL.
With Gridin sent to junior and his contract sliding this year, how many contracts are the Flames at now? Where Lipinski will play partially depends on contract #'s, IMO.

And Schwindt got several regular season games and little with the opportunity. I'm sure there's a reason.
Really happy that Gridin showed well in first pro camp.
