Only for bruch, which was excellent. I live right near there so I'm surprised I haven't done dinner more often.

I got home in time to see all the important stuff anyway. Highly recommend it. Also, there's a place across from Northland Mall in the NW called 'Lazy Monkey', and they have Taiwanese fried chicken. The batter is flavored with basil and it's all cut up, so you use a skewer to shovel it in your mouth. Also would recommend. It looks like only a bubble tea place when you walk in, but don't be fooled.

I prefer Yum Yum Chicken as my Korean fried chicken option.
I've been to Lazy Monkey once. The food was very solid, but I had a pretty subpar bubble tea. Though the people I went with said it's normally better, and must have been an off night.
For pasta, I recently tried Scopa (right beside Lina's Supermarket). The pasta was good, but what really stood out for me was the 6-7 different types of bruscetta they had on the menu. Didn't realize there were so many options for it!

Used to eat there all the time when I lived on that side of the city. Great place and reminds me of family run restaurants you find in Montreal. Good Mediterranean-ish food.

If anyone craves a luscious Halifax Style Donair like I do from time to time, I would highly recommend taking a drive out to Cochrane and hitting Donair on the run. Top notch. Best i've had east of Moncton, New Brunswick.

Sam was sick for a while and had surgery. Thankfully he is back at the counter.

No idea, but it does taste different. It is just one of those things.
Just like eating fish and chips out of newspaper tastes better than off a plate.

Donair Sauce vs. Sweet and Tzatziki Sauces, and the meats is spiced infinitely better. Other than that, not much.
Most places in Calgary use Tzarziki. Over the ten years I've lived here though, most places are now offering "Sweet Sauce", which is really similar to Donair sauce, but nowhere near as thick.
This place in Cochrane is faboulous for donairs. A real hidden gem. They also have a lot of extras you can add that are pretty exclusive to that shop. I found this place about 2 years ago (fellow Maritimer told me about it), and I've been driving out at least once a month ever since. Every Maritimer I cross paths with I tell them about this place, and i've never heard one tell me it was overrated yet. Most of them go back frequently as well.

Donair on the Run Also calls their sauce "Sweet Sauce" but it is much closer to the Halifax version than other places I have had Out West.

Many of you have probably tried Notable. I was there again on Saturday and everything was excellent.
Olive tapenade and garlic confit on wood grilled flat bread. Potato rolls with salsa verde. Succulent lamb with white bean cassoulet.
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but the dessert I had was about the best I have ever enjoyed. Try the milk pie with oatmeal crust, salted caramel ice cream and orange marmalade. The sum of all the parts was perfection.

Very busy place - must be doing very well.

^Agreed, but to add, it's not just a nice restaurant for dinner but also a really great lunch / burger spot. I haven't been there in some time, just by virtue of the location. But at last check, they had, hands down, the best fries in the city.

It's just meat, red onion and sweet sauce.
I'm very much in the minority, I think, when I say that I've had much better donairs here.
Of course donairs here are really more like shwarma with donair meat in place of chicken.
Even further off topic, but people in Halifax love donair sauce (sweet sauce) on everything.
